5 Stars By AlumiGogo Customer on 2016-10-18 Holy clean carpets, Batman! I have 4 large breed dogs and live on a farm. Needless to say, things get tracked into the house and ultimately get ground into my wife's high dollar rugs. Old Bissell died so I purchased this hot rod (from Lowes). All I can say is "woah!". This bad boy sucked a years worth of dirt and K9 derived hate from the fibrous soul of our living room rug in only two passes! This machine will tear through a tank of cleaning solution like a bear in a butcher shop but it's worth it. The upholstery tools are alright. Without rotating brushes, they only work as hard as you do. Power cord is longer than Monday, and is pretty heavy duty for a non-professional grade carpet appliance. The lift-away feature is kinda handy for maneuverability. But that's about it. The tools don't work unless you "lift-off". This is mildly irritating when you just need to do a small spot in the damn corner where the main machine won't reach and have to disassemble the lunar lander so you can scrub said corner for 17 seconds while your dog's are jumping all over you freaking out bc you're on the floor with a very loud sucky scary spray thing ... but I digress. Overall, this machine is quite impressive and I would recommend it highly, particularly for folks who live on farms with large breed dogs. K bye.
P.s. I tried to post a picture but my amazon app is being a d-bag. Sorry yall. You're just gonna have to trust me. Fo reals, this thing is awesome!
5 Stars By Kevin M. Lynch on 2017-12-19 Exceeded My Carpet Cleaning Expectations and Does No Use Much Water For a Great Clean Job Have used this Bissell a couple of times on the carpet in our house in the last week. Very impressed. Cleans amazingly well. Vacuums the water very well. Carpet seems to dry in a few hours after shampooing. Have used on carpet and on the stairs. Easy to operate. Always vacuum the carpet before using. System is no more difficult to use that a typical vacuum. Would like to know when the solution bottle is used up. There may be a way to tell but I have had to check just to make sure I am not just "going through the motions" when no shampoo is being sprayed. Glad I got the 48 oz. bottle of Bissell 2X Deep Cleaning Formula with the purchase as I used about a third of the bottle each time I cleaned the carpet. I have used the rental units and had a carpet cleaner in the past and they both required many more water changes. Not sure why the Bissell uses less water and does such a good job but ....not complaining. I actually look forward to cleaning the carpet knowing that this product is doing a good job cleaning and dries so quickly.
5 Stars By Heather LaRee on 2016-07-11 It's a winner in our house! The Bissell 15651 is a winner for us! We have tried other carpet cleaners with mixed success. We have both spot treatment and upright cleaners. When this came up as an all-in-one we hoped it would serve both needs. I does. So, on with the review:
Likes: All-in-one unit Easy to follow instructions (a sticker is on the unit but I downloaded the full PDF) Long 22' power cord with notch to secure plug to cord (amazing how many appliances don't have this) Solid construction Powerful suction Included solution (though I am not fond of scented cleaners) Metal inserts for the screws that hold the shields in place (this is for cleaning after use) Pretty easy cleaning (the "after use" cleaning in the manual looks like it is more effort than it actually is) Easy tank fill and empty Does a really good job
Dislikes: (very minor) Small solution tank No rotating brush on the hand-held wand Bottom plug on the solution tank plug was lose. (be sure to tighten the plug before using) Scent of the cleaner solution
Pictures below reflect "Before" and "After". One cleaning a spot of soot with the wand. The other is using the upright position on an old runner rug that was destined for the trash. As you can see, the colors really came out as the dirt and hair fibers were cleaned.
I really like the ProHeat 2X Lift Off Pet Carpet Cleaner and would recommend it.

The thing I like the best about carpet cleaners is how easy it is to get men to clean your house with them. The more elaborate the machine the better. This is the sixth in a series of Bissell carpet cleaners we have tested, and it's radically different from any other one we've used. We recommend it, but there is one MAJOR drawback which might make it impractical for some buyers. Read on for the deets...
SET UP/APPEARANCE: You will need a Philip's screwdriver. Set up wasn't too bad, and since Bissell includes a small amount of cleaning fluid you will be off to the races straight out of the box. There is a quick start guide and a full manual. We like the design, appearance-wise; it looks space-age. Nifty.
THE DRAWBACK: The water tank is small. Too small. I get why they made it so small; the detachable center is easy to lug up stairs and into cars because it isn't huge. But good grief it is annoying to keep refilling the little tank. To clean that rug mentioned above? Three refills. It's just time consuming. The Big Green Machine Bissell makes would have done that rug on one tank with lots to spare. This Proheat is okay if you have small spaces to clean, and especially if you wish to clean...
CAR UPHOLSTERY: I've included before and after pics of car mats (plus a video of how the small unit wand works) to give you an idea of the level of clean you will get . The car in question is five years old and the mats have never been shampooed in that time (shameful, I know). Those stains are dirt, oil and grease from construction work. The ProHeat got them decent, but the Big Green Machine would have cleaned them maybe one level more, clearing out more of the residual stains. Even though you can detach the center of the ProHeat (as shown in picture), the Big Green Machine has a versatile wand attachment and honestly it's just as easy to clean cars with. Except you don't have to constantly refill the tank.
Which leads us to the conclusion, broke down below.
YOU SHOULD GET THE PROHEAT LIFT OFF PET IF: You have a small carpet space to clean (say, a home under 1000 square feet), do a lot of spot treating (children and pets), and/or need the price to be under $300.
YOU SHOULD GET THE BIG GREEN MACHINE IF: You have a larger home with extensive carpet, have multiple cars you would like to clean in one fell swoop, and want to invest in a more powerful product that will last many years (after nearly six years of constant intensive use, ours was still bringing trashed carpets back from the dead as superbly as the day we got it).
We like this ProHeat better than Bissell's DeepClean carpet cleaners, and we think this model is a nice blend of the original ProHeat and the portable Car Cleaners. We MUCH prefer Bissell Carpet Cleaners to the Hoover brand models, which tend to be bulky, hard-to-maneuver, and finicky (one expensive model had a tendency to shut off when pushed over uneven terrain. Stunk.). This is a good machine at a fair price and we do recommended it for buyers will the above needs. One star deducted for the tank issue, but still rating overall:
3 Stars By A. H. on 2016-07-25 This machine does a decent job, but it is cheaply engineered and leaky for the price We have had a few carpet cleaners over the years. This one from Bissell manages to do a fair job of cleaning carpet, but it seems quite cheap for the price. It also requires a large amount of cleaning formula to clean even small rooms.
The cleaner requires some assembly. The handle is affixed to the body of the unit with four insubstantial screws. As a result, the handle assembly on this unit seems much cheaper and insubstantial than even on prior Bissell products we've owned. This is a shame and appears to mark a trend in which even fairly expensive minor appliances are of poorer quality than they used to be. It's a shame as better screws would only cost the company a few cents. This is false economy.
The unit has a few other problems. If you pull it back, it always leaves formula behind the suction. And if you pull it back to get that formula, it leaks still more, requiring you to continue to pull it back. It's ridiculous that a machine this expensive would dribble out formula in a somewhat uncontrolled fashion.
We have five cats, and this unit did do a fair job of pulling soil and hair out of the carpet. However, it spit cat hairballs all over the place, even after the room was thoroughly vacuumed first with a Dyson Animal vacuum. It also required almost all of the included formula to clean the carpet in just a few small rooms.
There are no instructions included with the unit. You have to download them from Bissell. They include guidance on cleaning the unit, which requires you to dispose of any cleaning solution that you happen not to use. Overall, it seems like the instructions are geared towards requiring you to purchase a lot of cleaning fluid from Bissell in a "razor and blade" sales strategy.
The bottom line is that this is an expensive unit that feels cheap and, despite being properly assembled, leaks fluid in amounts much greater than one would hope. While it did a pretty good job of pulling soil out of our carpets, it seems too expensive for what you get. It's difficult to understand why a company like Bissell cannot provide a better machine for the price.
Recommended with serious reservations.
4 Stars By S. Faulk on 2016-07-11 Good Suction and Handy Detachable Cleaner Out of the box for assembly: The Bissell was easy to assemble; it just took a Philips screwdriver for a few screws along with some snap together parts to complete the setup process.
In use with full system: This cleaner is heavy and that is probably a good thing, meaning they didn’t cut corners in the design or construction but it is awkward when you need to carry the entire cleaner up a flight of stairs. The upstairs bedrooms were my starting point to use the steam cleaner and I would recommend waiting to add the water until you have carried the cleaner to the initial destination for use to keep the weight down. In operation the cleaning is very good and does a much better job removing the water from the carpet compared to my prior steam cleaner (Bissell Deep Clean Deluxe Pet Full Sized). That unit consistently left excess water in the carpet but I would say this one takes up at least 90% of the water that is put down and has far superior suction.
In use with portable system: The detachable system is a great addition that makes cleaning of stairs, upholstery and tight areas much easier. It does a reasonable job in all of these areas that I have tried however it should be noted that the hand held brush is not powered and will not give the same cleaning power as using the main unit.
Closing thoughts: A few negatives for me are when using the entire cleaner (not the portable portion) the power switch is located at the base of the cleaner and is not convenient at all. I would like to see the water reservoir somewhat larger, it takes a lot of fill trips to do a few rooms. One other item that would make this unit a five star cleaner for me is that I would really like to see a separate soap dispenser so I could choose to use soapy water or plain water at any time when cleaning. I had a Hoover unit set up with way with the choice of water or water with soap right on the handle and it was very nice. Generally when I am steam cleaning now I do a section with the soap mix and go back with plain water to keep any residue to a minimum. Overall this a solid cleaner that has done an excellent job in the few weeks of use and I think it is nice steam cleaner.
5 Stars By John Craig on 2016-07-19 We have had bad pet stains for a while up stairs. Since this house has seen 7 dogs live in it since the last time the carpets were replaced, we have had some pet stain issues - most notably in the upstairs hallway. We got the Bissell ProHeat in hopes of helping make easy work of cleaning up that area and keeping it clean. Well, the votes are in and it did a great job getting it clean. This unit was easy to assemble, easy to operate and easy to carry up stairs with some innovative handle designs for carrying. I really can't say it was a pleasure to clean my carpet, but honestly, that chore wasn't so bad with this machine. 5 stars - two thumbs up (28 paws up!)
5 Stars By JustMe on 2016-06-17 Bissell ProHeat does it again After having several Hoover carpet cleaners fail after owning them for a short time, I tried a Bissell ProHeat and it has been going perfectly for at least 3 years now. When AlumiGogo offered me this Bissell, I jumped at the chance, even though my old one is still in use, since this has a detachable deep cleaner. My older model uses a wand that attaches to the carpet cleaner, which is adequate, but I wanted to give this a try. I’m glad I did, as I really like the detachable deep cleaner for cleaning the car in particular. It’s much easier to put this smaller detachable part in the car than stretch the hose attached to the wand in my older model.
I’m not a fan of indiscriminate use of antibacterial products, so I did not use the Antibacterial Formula that came with the machine. Other formulas work just fine.
As with my older model, this doesn’t actually have a heater, despite having “ProHeat†in the name. Bissell’s website explains that, “HeatWave Technology™ helps maintain consistent water temperature throughout the cleaning process by redirecting the heat of the motor to help maintain the temperature of the water.†You have to start by putting hot water in the machine. I was tempted to remove a star because of this, but decided that the machine was superior enough to other brands, assuming it works for years as my older model has done, that it was still worth 5 stars. If this fails early, I will update my review.
Stats from Bissell: 12†cleaning path 24 pounds empty, 30 pounds full 22 foot power cord ¾ gallon tank capacity Has Surround Suction, which is suction along the sides and front of the brush to help prevent water and solution from being left along the sides of the cleaning path Has Edge Sweep brushes for cleaning along baseboards Includes a Spraying Crevice Tool and a 3†Tough Stain Tool
