Full-18": bucky board required
I agonized over this purchase a long time, and almost bought a 16" high from another brand because all my bins average 13.5" high, but the one feature important to me was a frame that remains quiet during movement, and as a 180lb 70" tossing and turning side sleeper, I didn't want to take a chance with a non Zinus since quiet is their claim to fame (if you know a metal working mechanic with a high RPM circular saw, you can always get the legs shortened). I ordered on a Sunday but they didn't ship till Thursday and it arrived the following Wednesday after crossing the country by FedEx which arrived intact with no frame damage. Assembly was simple, though I was disappointed Zinus does not include 4¢ worth of nylon or silicon bushings for the two long bolt and wingnut frame joiners, so I used my own.
I placed my expensive 30yo 8" feather+foam+spring mattress on top, made the bed and did a test lay down only to discover how much I felt the frame down the center even while on my back. if you are a back sleeper on a twin(1) queen(2) you may not notice since there is no center bar along your spin, but for back sleepers on a full - it's awful, especially if you are a side sleeper like me. remember this is an 18" frame, so it's no like many will be using 12" thick mattresses here. fortunately I had a 4'x6' hard rubber mat to spare from my home gym flooring, so I unrolled it on the frame, placed the mattress on top, made the bed, and poof like magic this frame was usable as something you could actually fall asleep on.
zinus only sells thin no slip mats, not semi rigid bucky boards, so buyers may not be aware of how badly they need one until they have this set up at home. I would have been upset had I now had to pay extra to secure a board, so I deduct a star for Zinus marketing these frames without any kind of guidance or options on how much they may be needed particularly on the full with that bar along your back.
photos are of Sterilite 1888 or 1988 bins and a typical folding chair for height scale. BTW the 2 channels for bins seem to have 31"x16.5" clearance (diagonal braces lean outward so they don't interfere) thus I was able to fully occupy the space using 37gal rubbermaid roughneck totes without their lids, while HDX 27gal totes fit the width with their lids but leave a 2" gap above - be advised when using these larger totes you want the Queen size frame to accommodate 2x3 as the Full will leave the bins sticking out on one side by a few inches.

Eight -20 Gallon Storage Containers Fit under my Queen SmartBase!
I'm reviewing the Queen-sized Zinus 18" Premium SmartBase. This took me less than 15 min. to set up, and only cuz i was taking pictures in between. It comes in two parts, folded in half. You basically unfold each almost twin-sized piece (similar to a flat conference tables with folded down legs), click in the safety hooks and tighten the wingnuts on each of the four corners. You then use the included two long screws and wingnut the two parts together to make the complete base-- no tools necessary.
This makes for a very tall bed, esp. if you have thick mattresses and a topper like we do. But, the glory of having an ample area to discreetly store supplies makes this SO WORTH IT. I was able to fit EIGHT 20-gallon storage containers that were 17 inches tall and almost 17 inches wide: [23 3/4"x 17" x 16 5/8" (60.3cm x 43cm x 42.2cm)] under this frame, and 18" bedskirts are available--i need to get one.
This frame feels very sturdy set-up, for being so lightweight, and has no squeaking- all the parts that touch the floor have plastic caps, so your wood floors should be fine. It feels great to be on the bed, and there is no movement. Best yet, I was able to throw out our old and unwieldy box spring, which was so hard to fit up our stairs during our last move. Yay, Zinus!

This frame is a game-changer! First, it was less than 1/3 of the price for box springs with a traditional frame. Second, it is much lighter and more compact than a box spring and frame (think: moving, or moving your room around). Third, it provides an incredible amount of under-bed storage! We never had a good spot to store our folding massage table, 2 dining room table leaves, wrapping paper container (you know the long plastic ones with wheels?) and folding chairs. Well, now we do - and there is still room for more stuff, too! I've attached a picture so you can see the table leaves and the wrapping paper container underneath, with so much more room still available.
As a bonus, this frame is SOOO easy to put together. It comes in two large folded pieces that you flip upside down, unfold, and then connect with two long bolts and two wing nuts. I spent a total of 15 minutes from the time that I cut the tape on the box, until the time it was completely set up in my room. It would have been less had I been more energetic about it, but hey, it was early morning, and I had just been notified that my new mattress was coming a few hours earlier than scheduled. I'm not a morning person and the coffee hadn't kicked in yet.
We've slept on it now and have zero mattress slippage and zero creaking noises when we turn over. The only difficulty I had was finding a bed skirt with an 18" drop. After looking online, I found one out "beyond," if you get my drift. It was pricier than I would have liked, but when it arrived, I could see why - it was a heavy duty material and really well made. But, I digress. My point was to be sure to buy that 18" bedskirt, or or the ugly metal frame legs will be showing. Cuz this thing ain't purty, but you aren't going to see it or think about it once it's set up - except when you are gleefully putting something away underneath it. Enjoy!

Sturdy frame that's perfect for underbed storage
I am very pleased with our Zinus SmartBase bed frame.
Installation: The frame arrives in two pieces which each fold in half. The legs are also folded in. This allows for a relatively compact box for shipping. The directions were easy to follow. I did require my husband's muscle to get the box upstairs but at that point, getting the frame up was a one-person job. Each half is unfolded and the legs are snapped down into place. Then the two halves are connected. All necessary hardware was included. I did use my electric drill to speed up the process but no other special tools were needed and a regular screwdriver would do the job just fine.
Set-up: What makes this frame unique is that you do not need to use box spring mattresses. I did not realize this at first and got a good laugh with how ridiculously high the bed was with the frame, box springs, and mattress. It is an excellent height now that we removed the box springs. You should be aware that if you have a high-end mattress with a warranty on it, the fine print will say that not using a box spring voids the warranty. This did give me pause for thought as we invested in a very nice mattress last year but upon examination, the wire support on the Zinus frame seemed far superior than the wood support in our high end box springs. The frame has an 18-inch drop which means there is plenty of room for storage underneath.
Use: We were replacing the frame that we purchased from Pier One for our California King Bed (also from Pier One). The Pier One frame was very rickety from the get go. It fully attached to the frame but always shifted which was noisy and annoying. The Zinus frame had holes that were presumably for attaching to a frame but they were in a very odd place. If you have a standard headboard, you'll have to do some reworking to get it to attach to the Zinus. If you are using this as a free standing bed, obviously this won't be an issue for you. I attached a picture of the work-around I built for our headboard in order to attach the frame to it. This should give you an idea of where the hole is on the frame. Once this was done, I was very pleased with the frame. It is very solid. It does not move around or make any noise. The mattress feels very supported.
I am so thankful this frame worked out for us! I would definitely recommend the frame for anyone in the market.

Keep those wing nuts securely tightened
ORIGINALLY I GAVE THIS A 1-STAR WITH THE FOLLOWING COMMENT:
First of all this offer came with Prime. A note stated that the item is in stock but will require 1 or 2 extra days. Thus I anticipated it will take 3 or 4 days instead of the regular 2 days. It took 2 weeks to arrive. That was the first disappointment.
The first few weeks were great. And then, just after time ran out to return the item it started squeaking - and each week it squeaks more. I now wake up each time I turn from the squeaking noise. I bought this frame based on the claim of the manufacturer on the large number of raving reviews that this frame is quiet and does not squeak.
A FEW WEEKS LATER I CHANGED TO A 5-STAR RATING BECAUSE:
I'm embarrassed to admit that the squeaking noise was actually not caused by the frame. As it turned out, the wing nuts loosened up and when they are loose, the frame squeaks. Lesson learned! Make sure to tighten the wing nuts as much as possible without over torquing them and if it starts squeaking in the future double check that the nuts are real tight. Now my bed is as quiet as it can be. My apologies to Zinus for falsely accusing you of having delivered a poor product. It is great and I love it. Thanks.

Doesn't Squeak during "relations" yet getting in and out of bed...
I bought this in July 2016 and the frame doesn't squeak during relations, it squeaks getting in and out of bed... We are going out to buy plastic washers to see if that helps. UPDATE: the corner arms which are held in place by wingnuts just need to be tightened. Easy fix. Total weight sleeping on this frame is ~600lbs. We aren't distrubed by the 32" bed height being 5'10" and 6'4".
I am able to easily move the frame, with the only difficult part being adding the mattress ON the frame. Our 14" memory foam mattress is 100lbs and easily pushes around the light frame (14" Novafoam Costco). I haven't noticed any mattress or frame deformities. Having a heavy mattress really evens out weight distribution on the frame.
We fit 6, 18gal roughneck rubbermaid totes (H 16.5") and stacked 2, 10gal roughneck rubbermaid on top of each other under the frame. They easily slide under but it is close call! I was also able to fit my bike trainer and other misc. items under the frame.
We went out to purchase nice 14" drop bed skirt to hide the totes from plain sight (at BedBath&Beyond). I placed shelf liners on the bed skirt upside to make sure the mattress doesn't slide off the frame. No complaints there.

I bought this Zinus 18" smartbase in size Twin XL and a year later after using it i can definitely point out that it has a design flaw, and the problem is that the middle legs are only attached to the frame at the top, and this causes them to tilt back and forth and over time they become very loose, so with night sleep movement and body weight they tilt on either direction and produces de platform and mattress to sag in the middle. This could have been easily corrected if they had added a couple stabilizers bars like the front ends legs have. I now have to look for a way to add support to the middle section of the platform so that i can sleep in a flat surface instead of a sagged one.

Perfect storage solution!
I was very nervous about ordering this base. The fact that it took longer to open the box than assemble the frame. There is really no assemble required just open and secure together with 3 bolts. The underneath storage was exactly as described. We used a custom reclaimed wood headboard and now have the perfect Christmas surprise for our daughter.

creak moan click squeak
The frame is light yet sturdy, with simple assembly.
Unfortunately it also makes a lot of noise. Every time we roll over or get in/out, it's a chorus of clicks, creaks, and squeaks. We aren't particularly heavy or bouncy people. Quite annoying and disappointing. It's is not just one spot, it clicks and squeaks all over. I've tightened all the wingnuts as tight as I can, first using just my hands, then again with a wrench.
I tried to contact the company both through AlumiGogo and their web form, but haven't gotten any response.
I would not recommend this bed frame or the company.
Update 10/8/17: I've called the customer service number and was finally able to speak to a person. While very nice, they weren't able to help me other than to say "email customer service" to get warranty service. Well, I'm still waiting to hear from them after FIVE EMAILS to customer service. It's been a couple months and they have yet to respond to a single email I've sent them.

Great platform for latex
We have a 9" latex queen mattress, and this platform is fantastic. We put the platform inside of a nice bed frame (it fit fine), and since the platform doesn't make contact with the bed frame, the bed frame does not rock or move at all. The height is also excellent for this purpose, since it puts the surface of the bed up as high as a traditional mattress + box spring would place it. There are two things that remind me that the platform is still there:
1. I can see the legs of the platform under the side of the bed (not a big deal to me).
2. The bed makes zero noise. I've never had a bed that makes no noise before this one.
