I can't "stand" how great this is!!
Perfect size for the iPad Pro which is BIG. This of course will fit any size tablet but it works really well for the weight and dimensions of the iPad Pro. Multiple viewing angles all of which lock in place by pushing the side hinge button. Soft silicone/rubber feet and holder make sure nothing gets scratched. This WILL fit a slim case too so you've got a tad bit of wiggle room. If you've upgraded to the new iPad Pro get one of these! If you've found this review helpful, please tap the "HELPFUL" button! Handy solid tablet stand with many angles for adjustment.
While described as an iPad Pro stand, I purchased this to encompass all of my tablets and phones. The unit is pretty solid in it's build. There are many adjustable angles in forward or reverse mode. I tried all of my tablets, PC's and phones that would fit and it came out with flying colors.
The only one that did not fit as well in the groove was my Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 while in the Logitech Keyboard case. That particular setup is pretty bulky on it's own. The keyboard did set into the groove with the tablet hanging over it, so it still is usable.
I took a ton of pictures during the tests and I'll try to upload what helps people make a decision. I have not tried the iPad pro yet, when I receive one I'll try it out.
Surface Pro 4
Dell Venue Pro 11 with the back case cover and without. Fits both ways.
Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2, with the Samsung case/cover. Fits
Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2, with the Logitech keyboard. The whole unit does not fit in the groove. When the keyboard is folded under the tablet it sits into groove with the tablet overhanging. Since the design of that keyboard/case has the tablet holders at the top, It's possible for the tablet to slide down. In reverse mode the tablet and keyboard would not sit on the roller without sliding down.
Iphone 5 with a decent card case. OK.
iphone 6plus with same type of card case. Does not fit down into the groove, Sits on top of it. Still works.
iPad 4. OK.
The unit is larger then an iphone 5, 6Plus, Galaxy note edge. I knew that going in.
Samsung Galaxy note edge.
Galaxy Note Tab 10.1 GT-8013 with Samsung smart cover case. OK.
Gechic 1303i USB powered HDMI monitor. OK, portrait and landscape (13.3")
Lenovo 14" USB Monitor. OK in portrait mode but only in one direction as the electronics block the other way. Landscape doesn't make sense as the monitor has it's own leg.
HP Split X2 tablet section. 13.3" Portrait and landscape.
- In dealing with so many stands, the first gut reaction is to pull the leg from the main housing, i.e. until you realize it does not move freely.
You need to press a button to unlock the position.
There probably should be a sticker on the back leg reminding you to unlock the leg by depressing the button.
- When the leg is locked into a position, there is some back and forth movement. Sort of gives you the impression of a weak lock. I have not had any issue with it so far, but if I do I will update.
- I wish there were a companion neoprene or drawstring bag. my concern is always that it may scratch other items in my bag. Makes me have to pack it in a special compartment to safeguard other items.
Overall I'm very happy with it. It's a solid stand with many adjustable positions for use. I have the Gechic, Maroo, Poweradd 10,000 mah battery and AlumiGogo basic stands as well. The TechMatte XL will probably be the one I take when I'm on the go.
The initial goal for this was for the Gechic and/or Lenovo USB monitor to sit under the curved 34" Dell at a deep angle. This giving me a work space under the larger work space. Great for dragging a youtube video under the main screen.
Other usage cases are for using the USB monitors, HP Split X2 and/or other tablets in portrait mode with solid support.
I prefer a side monitor in portrait mode for code and/or monitoring log files.
It succeeds in all my use cases so far.

A+ Smartphone and Tablet stand
This is a great little stand that works perfectly to hold my iPad 12.9. I also use it for my phone too. I keep it on the desk all of the time and it's a very convenient to keep my iPad or phone nearby. I also bought it so we could take it on trips because it folds flat and that makes it easy to store. It's an A+ product and I highly suggest it. Oh, make sure you press the button on the hinge to open and close the stand. It doesn't open without pressing that button in first. If I could make it even better I would suggest the stand be made out of metal. It is made out of plastic. But, that probably keeps the cost down. The rest of the stand is metal though and solidly built.

Have two smaller versions of this stand that are used daily as iPhone stands. Kept trying to use my phone stand (the mini version of this stand) with my iPad Air too. (It works but not well.) Was glad to see this iPad Pro sized stand become available. My iPad Air is in an Otter box. The Otter Box comes with a stand that allows for two angles. Because this TechMatte stand has a hinge that allows for multiple angles, it has greater utility than the plastic Otter Box stand. My cased "too thick" iPad won't fit in the front lip (even with the plastic insert removed). I use the stand with the front piece flat on the table and the back part of the stand angled up so it serves as the back rest. The aluminum is durable and light weight. Well worth the $12.99 price I paid for it.

Not really what I expected
This review is for the TechMatte Multi-Angle Aluminum Stand XL:
I hadn't read the product description carefully enough to understand the significance of "one touch button". What this means is that there's this really stiff button you have to press in order to adjust the angle. The words "endless adjustments" is a little misleading because within that 270 degree range, the stand locks into certain preset angles. It's not like a Microsoft Surface Pro where you can adjust its stand to exactly whatever angle you want without a button. If you have an iPad Pro (12.9") on this stand, you will most likely want to pull off the iPad first and then dig your finger into the stiff button so that you can choose from one of the preset angles.
Also, the "non slip" grip tabs are not that effective. It's like a really smooth/hard rubber and even when I place this product + my iPad on a marble counter, it still manages to slip around when I type via touchscreen. Fortunately I will not be using this stand when writing on the iPad (with a stylus) because I really don't think it would work well for that purpose.
Finally, this is a fairly heavy stand for what it is and what it's meant to do. Considering all the other stuff I need to carry in my backpack when I walk around, the extra weight of this product sort of makes me wish I had purchased a cheaper alternative that was made entirely of plastic (and lighter). Sure the aluminum looks nice, but the part that pivots out is actually made of plastic so the aluminum doesn't add much practical value in the ruggedness of this stand.
Overall, the stand works but it wasn't quite what I expected. I distinctly remember looking at 2 stands made by 2 different brands and I went with the more expensive one (Techmatte) because I assumed I was paying for a higher quality product. But ultimately, I don't think you'd be worse off with a cheaper alternative if money is an issue.

on 2016-12-15 Almost perfect stand for all iPads
Accommodates nicely all iPads, including the Pro 12.9" with the Joy Factory MagConnect Smart Cover Compatible Back Tray Case attached. That is very helpful when moving the iPad from stage or rehearsal environment to my desk at home. The only thing lacking in comparison with some other stands is that access to the charging/syncing port requires that the iPad be placed upside down in the stand. Not a huge issue, as this stand does provide a great design--sturdy, stable, easy to modify the display angle, and attractive.iPad Pro Stand, TechMatte Multi-Angle Aluminum Holder for iPad Pro 12.9 9.7 inch Tablets, E-readers and Smartphones - XL-Size Stand

Effective and inexpensive solution for table or desk device stand
Excellent for iPad Pro and anything smaller. I have the small version of this stand, and I wanted something slightly larger which is why I bought this one. It's about the size of an Apple magic trackpad (original version) and easily holds an iPad Pro or any tablet that size or smaller. I even place my phone on it sometimes. It's fully adjustable for angle and it's stable enough to use the device's touch screen. It is a nice silver metal finish and it also has a removable pad insert that enables the use of devices that may not be thin enough to sit in the lower channel. Good stuff.

Quality product that exceeds expectations.
For the past 2 years, I have spent about half my online time on an iPad Mini (the other half is spent at a desktop PC with windows 7 OS.) Recently I decided to invest in a way to use the Mini that would be superior to the clunky roll-up cover maneuver. To my dismay, most of the products I found were clearly too small to be stable or versatile (OK for smartphones but not an iPad). Finally I saw the iPad Pro from TechMatte (on AlumiGogo) and it seemed to fit what I wanted: a way to convert my Mini to a small desktop when it suited me. I have had this product for a month now and it has met my expectations completely. The design and engineering are thoughtful, the construction quite sturdy, flexible and straightforward. So far the hinge mechanism has worked beautifully (a month is obviously too short to allow a sensible comment about longterm durability, but to date it has performed flawlessly.) Barring a "surprise", this is a real value and I recommend it without hesitation. I am an 81 year old retired eye surgeon and am typically critical of the "tools" I use and I don't make recommendations lightly.

Well worth the price to ease face time with baby!
I purchased this iPad stand to facilitate FaceTime with baby and grand parents. It holds my 12.9" iPad Pro perfectly, almost upright. When sitting on the floor, it's at the perfect angle for talking to baby as she plays. The stand is heavier than expected, which is good! It does not tip or wobble with the giant iPad at all... Even if the baby goes over and smacks the screen a few times. When you push the adjustment release button on the hinge, the leg locks in and doesn't move. I wish the leg was made of metal too but it's ok. The plastic leg is thick, not flimsy and well formed. The anti slip feet work well on the hardwood floor as well as on the carpet. My iPad has a CLEAR GRIP Flexible Soft Transparent TPU Rubber Back Cover on it and it still fits this stand fine! I think any iPad clad in a reasonably sized cover should fit. Nice stand, I would purchase again!

I love this thing! I crochet for hours at a time and I keep all my patterns on my IPad and need to reference them constantly. I used to just prop my iPad up against a few books on my end table but was so worried about the kids or the dog bumping into the table and killing it that I went looking for a better option. I found this after looking at a few and the reviews won me over. It's just perfect for my needs, it also is great for cooking because my recipes are in an app on my iPad too. It folds flat when you need it to, works at many different angles and is very stable. What more could you need?
