GREAT Smoker ! Make the following improvements......
This is a great smoker and I agree with the other buyers that for the money, you will NOT find a better quality smoker sold by an EXCELLENT company with great customer service. I made the following improvements that were recommended by previous buyers, and I included some pictures. I highly recommend these improvements!! 1) Fill the flame disk bowl with a 7 pound bag of small LAVA ROCK (Home Depot) and then place the wood on top of them. 2) Buy 4 SMALL casters at LOWES and install them. There is plenty of place on the bottom of each leg to get 3 screws in. What a difference in moving the smoker around. 3) Get a pack of Weber DRIP PANS, 7.1 x 11 inches, and 2 inches deep, and gently push them in to the original opening for the water/drip pan. You increase the water capacity and the dripping surface, and it's so much easier to clean it up.
Now go out there and start smoking!! Have fun !!

I've had this smoker for a year now and Im still very happy with it! It took me months to decide on a smoker. I had finally settled on this one. I decided on the version with a separate door for the wood chips so that I don't get massive tempature drops when adding wood. I learned many tips from other reviews on modding the smoker, here's what I did:
I want to move the smoker in between uses and there was no easy way to do it. So I added some simple swivel wheels. The legs didn't seem as stable as I would have liked while rolling it around so I had to reinforce them. I got some metal cut and fitted the pieces in between the legs. Then I spray painted the metal panels black, predrilled holes in the legs and secured them with rivets. The metal panels also helps with controlling the flame when it's windy outside. In my opinion this is how the smoker should come from the factory. I noticed other people build brick wind barriers but I wanted a more elegant solution. Check out my pictures.
On the tray for the wood chips, I added lava rock. It took me several smoking sessions to find the right amount. For me, a single layer of small sized lava rocks worked best. For wood, I bought chunks but I chop them into chips about the size of a stick of gum, and the thickness of a smart phone. Anything bigger gave me too many tempature spikes.
Some people feel that the door leaks too much smoke and installed a gasket. I didn't need to do this with mine. It does allow smoke to escape but it isn't enough to be a problem. The door latch is adjustable, so I think a simple tightening of it is all you need.

Easy setup, easy to carry, don't get the medium size cover AlumiGogo pairs with it (get the large)
I got this based on a recommendation from a co-worker who does a lot of smoking and grilling, and has several smokers and grills. I wanted propane so I don't have to mess with charcoal or running extension cords (and I can use some charcoal in a wood chip smoker anyway if I want for flavor), and I like the two doors so the temp doesn't drop when adding chips.
It arrived with a smallish dent on the bottom from shipping, but can't see it when the smoker is upright, so not a big deal. Easy to set up. Easy to carry around with the handles. Mine will be stationary, so I'm not building a dolly, though it looks like it might fit on a standard square carpeted furniture mover that I have.
Had a lot of smoke coming out around the top door, which is slightly twisted/warped, and the positioning of the door latches is such that I can't get the door latches to pull the doors in very tight even after shortening the hooks as far as I can. So I added the Fireblack 1/2" tape around both doors, and that added enough thickness that now I can latch the doors snug.
If using a Weber drip pan while using lava rocks in the chip pan with an iron skillet on top, it's easy to hit the bottom of the drip pan with the skillet when I take it out or put it back in. At least with the skillet I'm using, I need to be sure the lava rocks don't come up above the metal slats/rests inside the chip pan.
Built-in thermometer seems accurate, and the top area doesn't cool off much when opening the bottom door.
I bought the large square Classic Accessories cover (Classic Accessories 55-570-011501-00 Veranda Square Smoker Cover, Large) because the medium square one AlumiGogo pairs with the grill doesn't fit well according to reviews and specs. The description even says it won't completely cover the smoker. The one AlumiGogo pairs with the smoker isn't wide enough to cover the controls at the bottom due to the flared legs. However, the large square Classic Accessories cover comes down about an inch from the ground, and will cover a propane tank sitting next to the smoker, with no excess material flopping around. Plus I have a Classic Accessories cover for my grill and like it, and the two covers will match.
Overall, really pleased with the smoker..

Cracked propane connection
We ordered this in August but didn't have time to use it until now. We discovered that the propane connection hose leaked when it was connected to the tank so we had to purchase another to use it. I would like to send that hose back so it could be corrected but can't figure out how to get a message to the seller. The twist knob seems to have a crack in it.
The drip pan is ridiculously small and have replaced it with a disposable larger throw away pan.
If not for the leak in the hose, and the small drip pan it would have gotten a 5 stars.

This was bought for my hubby for father's day. Hilariously, the big Fed Ex truck showed up early, and hubby happened to be outside when it did. The driver wheels the big box out and said, looks like somebody is getting a smoker for father's day... 😂
We are very happy with this smoker. Still learning a thing or two about the smoking process, but this is large enough to smoke a lot of meat all at once. I think its great!

Buy From Retailer not Shipped.
Buy this item from a brick and mortar store, this thing came so bent up and warped from shipping that it took me 2 hrs with body hammer and tools to get the door to even close. Shipping is not nice on this unit as it is not heavy enough to take the abuse. Brick and Mortar store are more likely to get truckloads handle the unit better. Not my day by any means,
FIRST I received the unit and unpacking it found NO hardware, not a screw to be seen. Called customer service and they will be shipping me the screws in 3-5 days. Not happening !! I headed to the hardware store and bought screws.
SECOND Then during assembly I found the door issue, It was so bad the door hit the control panel top while closing the latch on the door was 3/4 of an inch below the latch on the side of unit. I worked at it with body hammer and pry bars till it fits great now, shouldn't have to work to make it fit correctly. I knew if I called customer service they would have said ship it back, but that's too much of a pain and I wanted to use my new smoker. That's why I ordered it !!!!
THIRD I came back the day after I ordered the unit to read reviews and tips again to find the price dropped from $195 to $176. So i paid $20 more for not waiting a day then I had to buy over $20 in screws. I guess it is just my bad luck again.
I hope this unit smokes as good as it looks like it should so I will at least feel ok about the money and time needed to fix the unit.

Specific to the Smoker - we love, love
This Masterbuilt Smoker combined with my Blackstone Griddle have been Game Changers! Specific to the Smoker - we love, love, love this smoker. Anything you can think of - we have smoked it....even smoked the garlic butter for the smoked lobster tails. :) I have made dips, seafood, of course PoRK!, we had a "Chopped Challenge" where the secret ingredient was Rum Raisin Ice Cream - we had a smoked Peach Cobbler topped with RRIC up against a smoked Apple Dumpling filled with smoked RRIC....I still say the Team on Peaches tugged at the judges heart strings....but BoTh were outstanding! Next up is a Chopped Challenge Pizza Style! Cmon, smoked shrimp pizza vs smoked BBQ chicken vs smoked taco pizza vs smoked chili dog pizza!! Who wins??????? Ima go fire up the smoker and report back......😘 Buy this!!

Excellent Smoker at a great price!!
Great Smoker out of the box (4-Stars), but with the additions of the fire seal, cast iron skillet, and other modifications suggested by other reviews it becomes an EXCELLENT smoker (5-Stars). I am am able to regulate the temp and the capacity is superb. I received this for Fathers Day and could not be happier. From smoking tri-tip, summer sausage, corn-on-the-cob and pork butt there's nothing this smoker can't handle. I can't wait until Thanksgiving so I can smoke my first turkey!!!

Third time's a charm!
I'm a long-time meat-smoker, first with charcoal and then with electric, and now with gas. I've had two digital electric smokers--both Masterbuilt, and I had success with them . . . as long as they worked. They were easy enough to fix when it was just a matter of replacing a circuit board, but eventually they both burned through their ridiculously thin wires (they need much heavier-duty wiring). This time around I thought I'd try the gas option. One thing it has going for it is its simplicity--not a whole lot that can go wrong. Assembly was simple enough (took me about three hours by myself), after which I cured it for an hour or so. The first test for the smoker was a big one: Thanksgiving turkeys, and it passed the test with flying colors. The turkey meat tasted smoky and delicious, and it was super moist, too. As much as I like it I will have to do some mods for this smoker, however. I should have read the description more closely, but I thought it would be like the other Masterbuilt smokers and be constructed with thick, insulating walls. Unfortunately only the door is thick enough to hold in the heat (every other gas smoker I researched was built basically the same way: with one layer of sheet metal all around. Don't know why the electrical ones tend to be insulated and the gas not . . . is it some sort of industry-wide conspiracy?). I've found some easy fixes online for this issue in particular (simple wrap-around with the foil-covered insulation blankets that can be found in any Home Depot--should do the trick). I look forward to many years of great smoked meats with this unit!

Great smoker for the price!
This is my first smoker so I do not have anything to compare it to other than my gas grill that I would use a smoker box in. So far I have had nothing but complements! I have smoked salmon, ribs, pork butts, and numerous tri tip using hickory chunks. I would do the following upgrades as others have mentioned; makes all the difference. Buy the 10 or 12 inch cast iron skillet to put your wood in, buy the oven rope/gasket w/adhesive (sealed the doors about 98%) minimal loss of smoke and heat, use a throw away aluminum pan for the water pan for big smokes. I would also invest in a quality digital thermometer with two probes, one for the meat and one to monitor temp in the smoker. The smoker is also efficient with propane use; I could safely say that I got at least 30 hours out of a full bottle. I also added caster wheels to the legs as suggested by another reviewer; much easier to move around. I recently did two pork butts, bratwurst and hot dogs for an event at my work and received complements all day. It cooks brats perfectly at 225 no popping or bursting just a nice mahogany color after about two hours.
Any way this is a great product for the price! Be sure to cure the cooker before you cook; read the owner's manual. The greats are nice and clean easy.
