high price - low quality
my daughter saved her money to buy this - she was so excited. then was terribly let down when it lasted less than 24 hours. the lock will not work and now it can't be fired.
not worth it. keep looking

Did not work out of the package. Comes with a three digit combination lock that does not allow you to fire it even if you follow the instructions. I have no idea if it is broken internally, or if the combination got preset on a random number in shipping, but either way, the device feels very flimsy.

Jammed from the start, had to return for a refund. Problem is that in order to return in original box it must be disassembled and with the one way tabs, it's impossible. Had to send back assembled in a bigger box. Stay away from this.

Design damages darts, misfires most shots
This crossbow is designed differently than any other Nerf product I've seen, in that it requires the elastic "bow string" to contact and drive the dart from the gun. This requires some interesting engineering that fails quite easily.
The combination mechanism will prevent the trigger frok being pulled, but there's also another component that will prevent the trigger action, if the active (bottom) dart isn't pushed all the way into the chamber. 2mm of space will cause the mechanism to stop trigger operation, with no feedback. You'd have to cycle the chamber and examine the dart, to be sure it's properly seated. The chamber is already difficult to load without this concern.
If you were to disassemble the gun, and remove the mechanism, thus allowing the trigger to release the cord, even if the dart doesn't seem to be ready, you'd run into the another problem.
The capability to fire darts that aren't properly seated, is just like trying to fire properly seated darts that have seen even minimal use. The cord will slip past the back of the dart, either leaving it in the chamber or, more likely, moving the dart forward enough to lodge it in the gun.
Many of my new and used darts won't work, at all, and the ones that do work will be damaged by the cord, as they're used in this gun.
Cool concept. Functions like a real crossbow, in many ways. Ultimately flawed for use with soft foam darts.

I don't care what some people say sometimes girls want things in girlie colors and that is ok. My tough and tumble kiddo loved her purple nerf and was happy to not have black and orange.

Does not work!
Do not buy this.....it keeps getting stuck, and will only fire every once in a blue moon. I actually hurt my finger trying to get it to work. I am not happy at all!

Bought this for a younger sibling, whom I have many nerf wars with. The range on this is decent (about 60'-70'). Can get jammed on occasion.

Girl products should be Designed equally - For Real!
Just Because it's for girls doesn't mean they have to design it differently than the boys --- the color is all it takes. My lil one was so psyched to get this and then her excitement turned to frustration because of the jamming issue mentioned by other reviewers. In addition the code thing it just not warranted. We thought because it kept jamming that the code was required every trigger pull but no it was just jamming. thankfully we got this 50% off on amazon because if I paid full price I think I would have shipped it back to nerf directly and told them how awful of a product it is.
why can't the designers think logically? It's a common sense issue with respect to the design of the loading. Such a bummer. Talk your receiver out of this gift and have her choose a different model. or get a boy one and spray paint it purple if it's really an issue.
