Extremely happy swimmer!!
Very pleased with this setup. I have a 24' X 52" Intex Ultra Frame pool. This season I drained the pool, cleaned it, filled it and converted to salt water. I've heard lots of negative comments about switching to a salt water setup, but these were all made by owners or employees of all the local pool stores. After only 2 weeks of installing it, I understand why - they won't be making any money off of me. When I asked for a price to switch over to salt, I was given a quote of $1,800 just for the pump, cell and filter.
I didn't realize how much money I would be saving or how much time I would be saving by making this purchase. I just knew I wanted salt water because I love the feel of the water as opposed to chemical chlorine.
Before, I was buying at least 1 filter every week at about $20 each. I was also buying chlorine, chlorine tabs, shock, alkalinity and clarifier. I easily spent $600 last season to maintain my pool.
The setup was simple! I removed the old pump, drained ed the pool and cleaned it, installed the new system and filled the pool. Then I added the required salt, ran the boost cycle for 48 hours and added 5 pounds of stabilizer. Done!
My pool has never looked so clean. It's perfectly clear and refreshing. I took my water to the pool store yesterday to have it tested. After only the initial boost cycle and the daily 6 hour cycle, my levels are perfect.
Total cost: $300 for the equipment, $70 for salt, $15 for stabilizer and $20 for 3 bags of filter sand. So, just about $400 and I'm done.
I love the fact that I won't have to buy filters or sand. You only have to replace the sand every 3 to 5 years and the salt doesn't disappear from the pool.
If you've been wanting to switch to salt, but have been put off by the cost, you really can't beat this unit from Intex.

I cant believe it was not 5 times the price! dont let the brand name fool you.
Update... July 2016 we purchased a Coleman 16ft pool for $280.00! It is now July if 2017 and this is our 3rd year with it. Put this system from our little tiny pool onto this one. Uses about 5200 gallons of water and 126lbs of salt (morton natural salt). Water is crystal clear. I dont even pay attention to the Ph of the water since none of us have itchy skin after swimming for hours. I do check to ensure chlorine level is correct each day to ensure the titanium plates are doing their job. Make sure you clean your plates with vinegar if they start to get clogged up with "white stuff". We put plates in ziploc gallon bags and fill with vinegar and let them soak until the white stuff us dissolved. This pump, cleaning setup is awesome... We also added the submersible LED hockey puck lights (buy here on amazon as well) to the pool to give it really neat colors at night. Enjoy the pictures!!!!
Just got it a few days ago. Watched the DVD and that pretty much answered all the questions. BUT I did notice that that the one I received had 2 of the titanium plates (used to convert salt to "chlorine)... I dont think the video showed two of them but either way it works awesome.
ENSURE you use POOL SAND! not what some lady @ menards tells you will work as pool sand.. i ended up having to dump all the sand (was PLAY SAND) out (18 bucks down the drain) and going to a pool supply store and buying HTH pool sand.. the "play sand" is way too fine and will all flush out during the first step of setting it up. when you do hte backwash, it spits all the sand out onto the driveway :).
ok, so i have a small 10ft round pool x 30" deep connected to this thing.. talk about overkill ? sure maybe.. but who cares... right? it works awesome.. the pool (1000 gallons) took 25lbs of salt and 100lbs of sand went into the tank..
1. put sand into sand tank
2. put salt into pool water (when its full)
3. remove backwash drain cap
4. put in backwash mode (until clear water comes out, 30 seconds or so)
5. put in rinse mode (1 minute)
6. put in filter mode (let it run based on the timer calculations that are in the book)
7. put on boost mode (first time it has been connected pool and it needs to suck all the salt in and run through the titanium plates.
8. let it run.... use the PH paper to test the water.
9. turn off pump
10. go swimming.
last but not least. if you want to use this thing on a small blow up pool, get these adapters.. work like a champ. i got them on amazon as well from another seller.

Best decision ever
I purchase a new above ground every 2 yrs. this year I purchased 1 that came with a sand filter but would still need chlorine. That's always a pain and never works correctly. So I purchased this version with salt water option. Best decision ever, haven't done a thing to my pool in 2 months, crystal clear. Don't listen to the people at the pool stores, DO NOT dump 150 lbs of salt in your pool at once. I added 50 lbs and waited a week, then added another 50lbs over a weeks time, you can always add salt, you cannot take it out! Salt does not evaporate, water does. Use common sense and you'll be a fan of this pump!

Awesome pump for Intex pools
Purchased this pump for my intex rectangular(9x18x52) ultra frame pool. Got the 2150 and it keeps up nicely. I also put in the hayward sidewall skimmer. This duo keeps my pool crystal clear.

Worth the money!
3 times as strong as the pump that came with our pool so it will actually vacuum the pool vs simply stirring up the debris. The only issue I have is it didn't come with a backwash hose. They thread the backwash outlet so nothing will fit and I can't seem to find one. Other than that, it kept my pool clean and clear. I do wish it had a clock to set to run at certain times of the day as opposed to a certain number of hours. DONT BUY THE HOSE ADAPTERS recommended by AlumiGogo. This set up comes with them.

Saltwater sand filter pump
Once I got it hooked up it works great. I bought the intex 12x30 metal frame pool. The pool hoses will not attach to this pump without purchasing adapter B. The adapters listed to purchase with the pump from this seller are not the correct ones. I needed 2 adapters B which I ordered from AlumiGogo for around $10, it also does not include the drain hose for the pump which you will use when you backwash the pump. I purchased the hose for less than $10 from AlumiGogo as well. Without the correct adapter it is nearly impossible to hook this up to your pool. The threads are designed to only work with the intex adapter. Once I had everything I needed I found it very simple to assemble and connect. I used about 75 pounds of pool sand in the pump and put 40 pounds of pool salt in the pool. I followed advice from other reviewers and threw the salt in the pool by handfuls so that it didn't all sit on the bottom in one place. The directions are easy to read for initial use of pump. I backwashed until clear and then started pump. I got a low salt reading immediately however I continued to run the pump to allow the newly added salt time to circulate. After the first day my salt level has stayed normal. We have had a massive amount of rain here so I added a little more salt this week and still have normal levels. Pool has remained clear and beautiful. No more skin issues for my son since not using chlorine. This pump is super powerful for our little pool. We also purchased the intex skimmer which connects inside the pool very easily. Timer works great! Overall very pleased with this purchase I just think it should include the adapter for intex pools considering it is an intex pump. Order the adapters when you order the pump otherwise you will be like me waiting a week to get the correct parts. Overall great pump.

I would recommend this to anyone! My pool started out green and I have hardly had to mess with it. I shocked it once a couple weeks ago and the water is perfectly crystal clear

So Far So Good
I'm half tempted to wait to create a review on this because often times the moment I write a good review the item breaks or stops working and then I have to come back and update it. However, we've been using this system for almost a week now and so far it's been wonderful, so wonderful in fact that I felt the need to write this review. The system itself is a little difficult to figure out where everything goes but once you do everything works great and I haven't had a single leak or problem yet! I'm still trying to figure out how long I need to run the system to keep the chlorine levels within the acceptable range but that's more about experimentation and learning.
Some people complain that this system gets sand into their pool but I can see why they would say that; the instructions call for you to backwash the system before first use so all the tiny impure sand particles don't get into your pool. These people probably just set this up and assume you can just turn it on and skip the backwashing and rinsing steps; either that or they got sand into the middle pipe in the filter and hence it bypassed the system all together.
Overall I can see why people say this system is kind of a set it and forget it thing because as long as you're willing to run the pump enough hours per day you probably won't even need to add stabilizer (though you should anyway). From what I understand adding acid will be a regular requirement as the saltwater system constantly raises the pH of the pool but so far we haven't needed to add any.

It's great purchase. Installation is very easy and also you have an installation CD included. THE ONLY one thing I want to say, BEFORE you start install the system, make sure you check all the parts. We didn't check , we just started set up it step-by-step and.... here is the Surprise,.. one part was broken. But we have to finish because our pool was waiting for the system for couple days without any filtration, so water wasn't that clear. So after we finished installation, the system was working for 3 hours, and water get much clear!! So, the system bu itself worth the money you pay because you don't have to buy any chemicals! The system will need 1 1/2 bags of pool sand, and we added 2 bags of salt to the water.
Tomorrow I will call warranty about the part, so do updates soon.... about customer service.
Updates: After calling the warranty department, got a new part in the mail in few days. with no problems!)

Maintenance Free dream system!
This pump is perfect for our 22' Intex pool. We got it up and running July 3, 2016, and we have YET to have anything but crystal clear water since (today is 7/25/2016). After reading several forums, we did realize that we need to still check the pH of the water regularly, and we have purchased a couple of acid products to add to the water to get the pH to be perfect. Still, I'd say that this system vs. the cartridge system that came with our Intex 22' pool is worth EVERY penny.
