This is NOT an 18 sheet shredder ! However!!
Yes, this shredder is quiet as advertised.
However, in reading the fine print of the instructions, they say “to maintain a durable and faultless work of the shredder, it is advised to place no more than 70% of the maximum amount of sheets to be shred at one time. The maximum amount of sheets should be used only occasionally“
Well, I did not buy it to shred 18 sheets “occasionally”, I bought it to shred 18 sheets most of the time !!
so, is this an 18 sheet shredder? NO, it is a 12.6 sheet or 13 sheet shredder
I have now been using this shredder for several months. It has concistently worked quietlty and shredded up to 20 sheets of paper at a time.
I originally rated it one star because of the above. However, it has been so excellent,.I must now change this to 4 stars.

I've been using this shredder for a couple of weeks now and it has met my expectations. My old shredder gave up the ghost a few years ago and this one has helped me turn a mountain of papers into numerous trash bags of confetti.
1) It is quieter than I expected
2) I was able to feed 6-8 pages at a time with no problems (I didn't actually try to handle more)
3) It easily handled heavy weight paper (and it even handled a few credit cards)
4) It seems to be quite a bit faster than my previous shredder
5) It isn't prone to jamming (no problems with standard staples, slick papers, etc.)
6) I used it for more than 6 hours straight before it shut down (for about 5-6 minutes) due to overheating
1) The input slot for the shredder should be redesigned to make it easier to feed the papers
2) It's a bit more expensive than the competitive models
3) Capability may be overstated because I'm not certain that it would routinely handle 18 sheets of paper
4) Container fills up pretty quickly
5) Some shredded bits always seem to end up on the floor when emptying the container.
CONCLUSION: Best home shredder I've used so far. I'd give it a rating of 4.5, if AlumiGogo had the ability to do that.

Not your economy model.
My material to shred is usually generated at the office, where there is a venerable shredder of the "home office" type. When it became necessary to have a shredder at home, I searched the reviews principally here on AlumiGogo. This shredder met my expectations 100%. It is a cross-cut shredder, which has a durable motor with an extended duty cycle. Most of the shredding we will do is regular office bond paper. Regarding the occasional comments that it does not satisfactorily shred its advertised number of sheets, rack it up to marketing. The instruction manual, if read, actually addresses most of the non-positive comments made in reviews of this product. Limit the sheets fed into the shredder to 8 at a time, if that many. Don't forget that the on-off switch is behind the unit. Better to fold wide sheets than to expect the motor to pull them through the throat askew. The unit is heavier than most of the shredders I've encountered, but I knew how much it weighed when I ordered it, and I ordered it with the belief that the "heavier" would equate with "more durable". The casters help if the shredder needs to be re-located. Finally, it is a quieter shredder than the one I use at work; not at all a bothersome noise in the home office. I expect to get good service from this shredder.

Really great little shredder
Really great little shredder. We use it for a sm-med sized contracting business and shred paperwork daily, but not a whole lot of it. This guy has kept up quite nicely for the past month-ish and is fairly quiet. It sits less than 2 feet from my desk and I have no issues if it's used and I'm on the phone, or whatnot. I do like the drawer pull-out feature to empty the container a lot vs. taking the lid off and having to dump it. It seems silly not to have it the other way...with the drawer, the actually shredder components stay right where they are. You are just moving the basket to empty and bringing it back to the shredder! Our old one I had to remove the top and get all the string-ys out and find a place to safely "rest" it while I took the basket to be dumped. And it NEVER failed that when I put the shredder top back on, there was always a mess wherever I had let is sit! Ugh! Not anymore! I didn't even know how annoying that was until I didn't have to do it anymore!
So, my best suggestion is, if you are looking at medium-sized shredders and they don't have a "drawer" basket that pulls out - maybe reconsider and look at this one.

A problem and its work around
This came with a design flaw that made it unworkable. I was able to jury rig a way around it, but for those who can't get it to work out of the box, check to see of the small bar or pin sticking out the back bar on the bin is on the right hand side of the machine. It fits in a hole on the underside of the machine itself and unlocks it so that it will only run if the bin is in place. If the bar/pin is on the left, take the top rim off the bin and flip it. Insert it in its trace. If it works you've solved the problem and you can either let it run like that--placing the bin beneath--or you can call the company and talk to them about a replacement piece.
I talked to the company and they were VERY helpful--eager to help resolve this problem. While my first review was lower, I've revised it due to the marvelous help I've received from the makers of this product and with the performance I've gotten once I resolved the initial flaw.

Check capacity frequently
We have had this unit about a week right now. We purchased because we have a lot - I mean a Lot - of material to shred. It works very well, will take a number of sheets at once and will handle a credit card with no problem. (Have not tried a CD). The one issue I have run into when doing a great amount of paper, is that it fills up rather quickly. Our first 2 "loads" jammed up on us before we knew it. Now, periodically, I will pull the drawer out, push down and compress the amount of shredded paper before continuing. I check frequently as the warning light that is on the top foes not come on. Otherwise, it works very well.

Perfect shredder for me.
This shredder has a powerful motor and does not groan and moan when it is working on our old documents. I have not tried 14 sheets at the same time but it handles 5 or 6 extra heavy sheets of paper without any problems when our old shredder would actually plug up and stop. We used to have to put it in reverse several times to get thru the sheets. Now that we have the Bonsaii, the old one moved out to the garbage can.

Works wonderfully, would buy again in a heartbeat
I've been using this shredder for a year now. I am very, very pleased. I purchased a different brand and model and was not satisfied with the cut size, since it would leave uncut chunks, so I returned it and bought the Bonsaii EverShred C149-D. The cut is incredibly small, smaller than confetti. It shreds credit cards without a problem (C149-D supports it.)
My girlfriend did not think shredders were worth it, and now uses it as much as I do for private documents.
I recall using it for around 30 minutes when I first bought it, since I had private documents pilled up. The machine worked with no issues and did not overheat.
My only point of dissatisfaction is the lack of a perfectly fitting bag. I purchased recyclable paper bags online, so that I can throw the shredded paper along with the bags and know that it follows my local recycling policies, but the bags do not fit perfectly the bin, so I have to hold them with tape to prevent spilling outside the bag. I wish Bonsaii provided an inexpensive, fitted paper bag for this model. I haven't looked recently, but I haven't found it in the past. This is not a major issue, and the shredder works flawlessly otherwise.

This is the best shredder I have owned yet. I cannot believe how quiet it is. The ability to shred continuously for 1/2 hour is amazing and the biggest selling factor for me. Almost all the other shredders I looked at had either 2 or 3 minute run time with a 30-40 min recovery. I can barely do anything and then I have to wait forever. There is a built in fan that runs to cool it down while you are using it. I like the large bin. My other one was half that size and I had to take it all apart and lay the top on the ground - what a hassle. This pulls out nicely so you can dump the shreds.

Great; much better than the more expensive Swingline shredder!
This is totally awesome shredder. For comparison, i have the 'jam-free' Swingline $600+ shredder also. I should have bought this one instead long time ago! The much more expensive Swingline Shredder doesn't shred any faster than this -- that thing is very bulky, heavy, and takes up a lot of space (with no space for a printer on top because it loads from the top). Also the Swingline tends to catch unwanted objects such as coins because it loads from the top (a quarter eventually ruined part of that shredder). This Bonsaii, works just as well, and the bin is much easier to empty, too!
