It's powerful, foolproof, and secure... and my receptionist shreds EVERYTHING....
other reviewers have mentioned that the paper must be placed from the SIDE and not the TOP of the shredding-feeder. Nothing against anyone else's opinion, but this is actually an IMPROVEMENT over most micro-cut shredders. Other units have a tiny slit at the feeder mechanism, making it a chore just to align the paper to be shredded.
If you have 8 sheets or less just jam them in and the shredder will do the rest. Other reviewers have said that the paper needs to be aligned properly. I'm a doctor, and we use this at the reception area.ALL DAY LONG. If the paper goes in sideways, the shredder pulls it in and shreds it completely. If you shred only one piece of paper at a time, I will agree there is some resistance from the unit - what we do is just fold it over to create a more sturdy document.
It's a great shredder for the money. It can take a doctor's office's receptionist shredding 4-5 sheets every few minutes. It's powerful, and secure. You know you need it. Get it, and forget it.
Useful tip - use plastic grocery bags as a liner in the bin to catch the clippings. Makes for much easier emptying. Most shredders these days don't allow this because there must be a TIGHT seal of the lid or the unit won't run. In this unit's case, the bin is SEPARATE from the catch-switches that would create this problem. Good deal.
ANOTHER USEFUL TIP: Use some type of light oil on the shredder 'teeth' every now and again. I Use WD-40, and it works just fine as anything else. If you don't oil it and it is geting heavy use, it can start to misbehave and jam up. :-)
UPDATE 20-NOV-13 - started using the 3-in-1 oil last week instead of WD40, and it works much, much better. With the WD40, I was hearing some more noise coming from the unit after a day or 2 - with the 3-in-12 oil, there is NO EXCESS noise.

Great shredder for the money!
I have bought and used many shredders over the past 10 years between personal and business use. I have learned a few things (the hard way) so now I apply what I have learned to all shredders. They all over heat if you use them continuously, so with any shredder use it here and there and never constantly. I know this can be difficult when you have stacks to shred, but do yourself a favor and just shred a small amount several times throughout the day. Whatever the sheet max is, divide by two. Also annoying, I know, but it's easier on the shredder and you decrease chances that you'll get a paper jam.
So, now about this shredder. I have had it for a several days now and so far I love it. My basic qualifications were cross cut and shredding CDs/DVDs. I did hours of research and decided on this one because of the generally good reviews. It was also the only model that shredded CDs/DVDs that was at a price that I felt was reasonable. The fact that it is mircocut is a bonus. It works very well. The first day I shredded 15 CDs and it worked with ease. Since then I have been working on a 2 inch stack of papers. I shred 4-5 pages at a time for a minute or less continuously. It doesn't feel hot or seem to strain at all. The only con I can see at this point is how you feed the paper. Its feeds in at an angle, to prevent fingers, ties, hair, etc from getting caught. I see the point, but it takes me and extra second or two to get the paper in, which gets annoying.
Overall, if you want a good shredder for mircocut and CDs/DVDs and you don't shred too much this is a good choice.
1/2/14 Update - I've had this shredded for almost a year now and it gets frequent home use. I still love it! Great product!
10/5/16 Update - This shredded holds up well. Very happy with my purchase!
3/27/17 Update - I just changed my rating to 5 stars from 4. I still use my shredder regularly at home and it's still working like I took it out of the box yesterday. I'm very pleased!

OK for minimal shredding volume
The shredder was packaged very well, using pressed cardboard to secure the shredder in the shipping box. Less plastic, which is great. I didn't attach the wheels, in a single office, there's no need to wheel it around. The CD/DVD slot and the credit card slot works very well on shredding those items. I have a bit of trouble getting the paper to 'catch' in the rollers, I have to push it in. Once in, it does shred paper easily and does handle six pages at a time. I found eight to be a bit iffy. So - it's OK. I don't have high volume to shred so I'm satisfied with it. The basket pull out feature makes emptying very easy, as you don't have to remove the heavy ( very heavy) shredding lid. If you need something for more volume shredding I'd recommend another model.

Small with a small cut
My goal was to find a shredder under $100 that had the smallest cut for the money and would go through staples and had a pull-out bin so I didn't have to lift the lid off to empty it. This shredder is much smaller than I expected, but I'm glad. I uploaded some pictures of it by a wine bottle to give a visual of the size. I left the wheels off since I'm keeping it on a cabinent in my utility room. It is small enough that you'll do a lot of bending if you keep it on the floor. I also uploaded a picture of the shreds beside a quarter and penny as well as a long strip of paper from a very old shredder.
It is quieter than the shredder I have at work that was about $400. It does sound much different when you use more than one sheet of paper at a time, but I don't think it is straining. I ran junk mail with a window envelope and several pages though and had no problem. My only gripe (and I thought about giving it a 4 star rating over this) is how you put paper in it. You slide it in flat from the front (another reason it works better on a counter up high) instead of putting it straight down. I'm guessing this is to keep fingers out. I'm sure I'll get used to it.

Paper Shredder but not for CD's and credit cards
The paper shredder part is great, nice little unreadable pieces. However, it DOES NOT shred DVD's or credit cards. They are left in big chunks and you can read all the information. For the price, this is ridiculous and misleading.

Does a good job - but it's more a 4-6-sheet than a 8-sheet cutter!
This shredder does a awesome job and you get paper shredded real small - as advertised - micro-cutted.
Unfortunately "8-sheets" is more an "idea" than what you should expect. You better go by max. 4-6-sheets.

Great shredder, single point of failure (the only plastic gear)
I've had this shredder for less than two years. It's been great until now. It would not shred this early morning. It sounded like it was jammed (high pitched winning with gears stationary) so I opened it up to find what I could not see: the single plastic gear would not engage.
I'm disappointed, expected this to last for several years, not 1.8 years.
I'll buy it again because it's still a deal, just getting the extended warranty for $9 cause I have a feeling it'll go before the extended warranty is up. I bought it previously with a gift card so I can't file a warranty under my credit card.

Good Shredder, Except...
This shredder is very good, however, you must not try to shred the thicker type credit cards- such as Chase Sapphire cards. They do not shred in this shredder, and mine is completely stuck in the shredder! Great for paper and regular type cards. I have not tried to shred any discs- so that I couldn't review.

At first I was a little disappointed in the size of the overall unit and the ...
Shredder works very well. At first I was a little disappointed in the size of the overall unit and the bin. It seemed small, however, I quickly realized that since this is a micro-shredder, it takes a LOT of time to fill up. I had an older, cheaper, store-bought shredder that made small strips. Seemed like I was always having to empty. When I first got it, I had a couple of years of tax documents to shred and kept checking the bin to be sure it wasn’t getting full. Because of the very small shred, I only had to empty it once with my stack of documents. My older shredder I would have emptied it at least 3-4 times. Additionally, having the bin pull out is SO much easier. A lot less mess. The CD slot works great as well. Those are cut into strips, so be careful as they are sharp. I’d give this 4.5 stars. The only reason I’d not give 5 is, even though it says “8 sheetsâ€â€¦ it seems to labor hard at that volume. I don’t normally need or want to do 8 sheets at a time, but of course I wanted to try. It did it, but didn’t sound too happy about it. But 4-6, no problem. Having the wheels is nice, but really it’s so small and portable, I didn’t think the wheels were a necessity. It is rather heavy though, so for someone older or with little strength, the wheels could come in handy.

Good product at a reasonable price.
This is a pretty tough paper shredder. It's easy to use and it's great that has different cuts to choose from. I like that it has a slot to put CDs. I didn't like the fact that it doesn't tell you anywhere if there's any manufacture warranty on the shredder but I was figuring because you can get the extended warranty so cheap maybe AlumiGogo doesn't offer it. Also I didn't like the fact that it states in the book that you can shred a few papers and you have to let it rest for like 30 mins. That's crazy. All in all I like the shredder and it's not to loud. Would buy another AlumiGogo product.
