5 Stars By Adrian on 2015-12-29 Very Well-built and Sturdy Desk I ordered this desk back on October 17th of 2015 and received it a few days later, so I'd say that the speed at which it was shipped was satisfactory. The desk was easy to unbox and very easy to assemble. Despite its simplistic design, it's well-built and very sturdy. What I love about it is the large amount of space that it provides for my desktop computer setup; I can fit my monitor, keyboard, speakers, subwoofer, and tower on and beneath it, in addition to my Sony PlayStation 4. I love this desk and am very pleased with it. The date on which I am writing this review is December 29th of 2015, which means that I've had the desk for two months; it's held up very well during this time and is still in perfect condition.
You can watch me unbox and assemble the desk in the attached video.
5 Stars By Tiffany H on 2016-01-12 OMG I LOVE IT! After seeing mostly positive feedback on AlumiGogo OMG I LOVE IT! After seeing mostly positive feedback on AlumiGogo, I decided to order. Although a little sceptical at first, I tell you what I didn't have any issues at all less than 10 minute set up and delivery was unbelievable. Happy happy!
5 Stars By M. Scott on 2017-01-01 Perfect for MY needs! This was purchased for a home office. Arrived (on time) in a large box. Literally, two pieces. The bottom frame, and the table top. The bottom frame unfolds in one direction (left to right) and is easy to secure in place (back center). Took me more than a couple minutes to figure out how to slide the table top on (the Origami plate indicates the front), to make sure it was secured, but I did (slide the back in first, then let down in the front). Push-locks underneath the table top will secure the table from sliding or moving at all.
I have two 24" Samsung monitors and an 15" HP Elitebook laptop with docking station, all sitting comfortably atop table. It is very sturdy. It is NOT scratch resistant, lol. So anything rough that slides around on the desk, will show scuff marks, but it is not noticeable unless you're really looking for it. Height of the desk was perfect for the type of chair I use. I don't really have a use for the bottom of the desk, other than the having the power strip and other cords sitting there, and not on the floor.
I am very impressed with this desk, so far, and I've been using it for about a month, now. If you're looking for something easy to setup, practical and sturdy, go ahead and pick up this desk!
5 Stars By Amanda on 2017-03-13 Better Than Expected! Received this desk today and let me tell you, it was a purchase well worth it. It houses both my monitors, keyboard, speakers, and various accessories on the desktop with room to spare! My large tower is housed comfortably and, more importantly, securely underneath.
Putting this desk together was a breeze. It took less than 5 minutes after I got it out of the box. There was a slight wobble to the desk, but after putting everything in its place, the wobble is gone so I'm not taking stars away as it doesn't effect the final product.
The look of the desk is very sleek and I have amble leg room, while my chair is able to fully slide under the desk when not in use.
Overall, I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a new desk, whether you're like me and use it for gaming, or you'd want it for a new workstation.
5 Stars By ellesbelles on 2014-04-14 Far better than I expected! I was hesitant to buy this desk based on some of the negative reviews but I went ahead and did it anyway. I was looking for something semi portable and easy to setup but also one with fairly large surface area and sturdy enough to feel like I'm working at a tradition desk (I can't stand those flimsy tables!). I noticed others reporting scratches and broken/missing parts though luckily for me that wasn't the case. Everything came and looked brand new. The setup was so ridiculously easy. Ultimately it met all my needs and definitely surpassed expectations
I will say when the package first arrived I was shocked by how heavy the entire box was to carry in, but once I opened it I realized that it was the detachable top surface board that accounted for most of the weight - by itself not all that heavy and easy for one person to carry. The separate frame is surprisingly light weight and folds up easily. I can carry each of the two main pieces individually up and down three flights of stairs - FAR easier than most desks I've previous owned which always required hiring at least two moving guys to do it.
I would highly recommend this desk to anyone looking for a sturdy and portable work station.
5 Stars By John Paul on 2017-10-25 A Desk's Tale For years and years i woke up fine, but always had one goal in mind. The perfect product i had to find, that would allow me to rise and grind.
I had to find a solid desk, a desk which would pass the ultimate test. A desk so neat, a desk so pretty, that for all others, i would feel pity.
I came across one on the web, examined it closely, and went ahead. Ahead I went, and bought it online, no go to the store, no wait in line.
I waited long, I waited hard, until it came, I felt so scarred. The two days it took, for it to arrive, was like an eternity i had to survive.
On a rainy morning, I heard the doorbell ring, the doorman standing there, he had a gift to bring. Congrats he said, on a great buy, I told him "aye", then wished him goodbye.
To set it up, is easy and quick, connect the parts, until you hear the "click". Its area is so big, you'll be able to fit, so many items, on top of it.
The rest of the story, I'll leave untold, but getting this desk, was like striking gold. I leave it to you now, to come to conclusion, if whether to buy it, is the best solution.
5 Stars By Gabriel on 2016-06-18 Good Lord, if I hadn't bought these things when ... This is my fourth purchase from Origami now. I now have a large rack in my room for holding a bunch of my stuff, a book-shelf style rack, a short, 3-shelf style rack that I put my clothing on, and now this desk. Good Lord, if I hadn't bought these things when it was time to move out of my apartment, I don't know how I would have been able to move on my own. These are a godsend while moving. Everything folds up neatly into a small space and fits in elevators, tight corners, and doorways without issue.
On to talking about the desk specifically though, this is a pretty basic desk by desk standards. Simply a flat surface and then a long shelf below to place a PC tower or whatever else you prefer. It's simple and clean. Most importantly however, it, like the vast majority of Origami's products, can fold up into a narrow space. This is a two-part process of taking off the top surface and then folding up the frame underneath, but far, far easier than trying to move your desk out of the way or disassembling it for renovation purposes or simply just to create some extra space for a while. As usual, I tend to dream of keeping the things I place on it as low as possible so I can quickly fold it up when I want to but I tend to end up relying on it in its deployed state and fill it with stuff. It holds it all as well as you would expect a desk that didn't collapse to, and as far as Origami products go, this is the most aesthetically pleasing one.
Although I give it a five star review, sometimes I encounter weird manufacturing defects after receiving Origami products. Sometimes two halves of a shelf don't line up great or something wasn't welded properly, or a shelf is somewhat bowed so that if you press down on it, it pops like the pressure seal on jar of jelly. Considering the price and functionality, I don't really mind these, but if you're looking for a work of perfection, I would expect some minor defects somewhere. However, they are otherwise amazingly sturdy, made of a well-coated metal, not incredibly expensive, and frankly it's hard to believe they're as well made and stable as they are despite being collapsible.
5 Stars By Rubens Garcia on 2017-09-17 Great price, solid computer desk. IKEA eat your heart out. Could have sworn I reviewed this desk, but I guess not. Here goes.
Though the packaging could have been done better to better protect the table top and the table itself, that's exactly what's in the box. The sturdy table top (which, by the way, was able to hold my 270 pounds on it with no signs of stress, more on why I had to do this in a minute) and the desk frame, which is made of metal and folds up really nicely to conserve space. It's useful for when you know you'll have someone over who is bringing a computer and needs the desk space, but you don't want to keep the desk out all the time. Quick, easy assembly and disassembly... Except for the table top. It's supposed to slide into place, and it does. Mostly. And then you realize the desktop does not sit flat, and while that's great for an artist table, that's now how this is supposed to be. The only way I was able to get the table top to sit properly was to actually sit on it, and slide the locking latches into place. It wouldn't work otherwise.
I chalk it up to the desk being damaged in some way when I got it. After all, the box did have a nice hole in it, a common issue. I went out on a limb for this desk, and I'm glad I did. It's adequate space for my large PC gaming setup, and gives me options.
5 Stars By SnugglyGirl on 2017-11-09 Awesome desk I love this desk. I didn't have any problems with it at all. Came without a scratch, dent or ding in the desktop or frame, all the hardware is exactly the way it needed to be and the setup literally took my 5 minutes. The only part that took any time was unwrapping it. It unfolded perfectly, the latch was secure and easy to operate and the desktop just slid right on. Just a couple of pins to secure it and it was done. It was actually fun to put it together. Not something I would have thought I would hear myself say about a computer desk, but there's just something kind of cool about unfolding your furniture. I have been looking for something like this for quite some time. It's currently holding my 27" gaming monster monitor and my 21" baby with a bit of room on the sides for my USB hub and my speaker. If I could change anything about it, it would be nice to have a deeper desktop since I like to have my monitor a little further back. Both my keyboards fit in front of my monitor, however, and there's still plenty of real estate for my drink, my phone stand and my mouse with a huge mouse mat. It's a little tight if you're a bit excessive with your tech like me, but not at all constricting, still plenty of room for gaming. I wont be fitting a second 27" monitor on it without a bit of finagling but that's what monitor arms were invented for. This thing is solid, doesn't move at all when I'm typing or gaming or even when I inevitable lean on it without thinking. I've paid twice as much for desks that scared me a bit when I leaned on them. The shelf on the bottom is a bit thin, but I've had my feet on it for pretty much the entire time I've had it set up and it still bounces right back when I lift them up. I don't plan to stand on it, so I think it's OK for now. Can't speak to how much weight it would actually hold, I don't have my tower there, I've got an Origami laptop desk that it's using as a pedestal instead. I tinker with my computer too much to have it down there anyhow. All in all, this is a solid desk. Maybe I was super lucky with absolutely everything working perfectly, but I have zero complaints with this. I've finally found folding furniture that's actually good enough to be classified as furniture. Well done. I see they make bookshelves too, I'm now well on my way to a completely folding computer room. Couldn't be happier. The price is right and the desk is awesome, definitely recommend.
3 Stars By Larkhall on 2016-01-19 Arrived damaged, Nice Quick Assembly I'll start off with the negative: The top of the desk arrived damaged on the front left corner. This was disappointing because I really like this desk! I'd have given it 5 stars if it arrived looking new without a cracked corner, but since it was well packed I can only guess it was shipped this way which means there's a lack of quality control. That kinda pisses me off because I had someone cutting down the outer boxes (it came in several boxes within a box) so sending the desk top back would be a real pain if I needed to repackage it.
As for what I like: literally everything else about this desk. I am past the point of putting dozens of screws together and due to other health issues, I had someone pull the desk out and in seconds it was unfolded and together. Simple. Just latch the back and its ready for the desk top. I removed the corner packing from the corners of the desk top and discovered the cracked corner. Not happy, but just let him put it on and slide the latches in place. All Done In a few minutes. It doesn't get any better or faster than this desk.
I really want to recommend this Origami desk, but if the possibility of receiving slightly damaged merchandise is a deal breaker, I can't recommend it.
If Origami is able to fix their quality issue, I'd recommend this as a great quick to assemble/unassemble desk.
Edited 1/26/16: I'll add that the desk has a slight wobble to it. Not horrible, just slightly annoying. I don't use the desk much, so still not a deal breaker for me. Still useful and for $93 worth not having to spend an hour or two putting together some particle board junk with 50 screws.
