Good desk for the price - use wood glue to strengthen the assembly, and read the specs before buying!
This is a decent desk, and it's just what I needed for a small computer setup in my basement. I noticed a lot of low ratings due to the size, with reviewers saying "smaller than it looks" and other similar comments. Measurements are provided in the 2nd photo on this listing, so PLEASE read them before you buy it! The size not being exactly what was expected based entirely off a quick glance is no reason to leave a 1 star review, and it needlessly hurts the rating.
Now, going onto my own comments, the reason I rated it 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the finish of the desk. The panels have some minor chips and scratches around them due to somewhat loose packaging, giving it an almost pre-owned appearance. It's not enough for me to send it back, but the manufacturer could do a better job of packing to make sure this doesn't happen.
Despite the minor damage, the desk looks nice when assembled and is sturdier than expected! Aside from the metal screws and locks, the desk is made entirely from light weight particle board with plastic feet and hollow plastic tubes for the post at the end of the shelves. Not a real high quality feel, but hey, it's a $30 desk! You can't get solid wood panels at this price without building from scratch. It's not rock solid like a bigger, heavier desk, but it doesn't wobble either unless intentionally shaken. While building, I used a drop of wood resin glue on each screw and dowel to increase the sturdiness of the build, and it's all holding together nice and tight!
If all you need is a small desk, and don't mind something with a cheaper feel, this is great desk! If you need something larger or want something that feels real heavy duty, pay more than $30 or $40.

$40 desk - terrific for price
it's a $40 desk. It's not exactly made of cardboard, but pretty close. Don't give this to your nine year old kid. We use it to extend an existing desk - perfect for that. It holds a tower, a 50 key musical keyboard, soundboard, a flatscreen monitor, and various doo dads with no problem. The tube things are cheap plastic - we had a big laugh about that. It's squashed up in a corner though so it looks fine where it is. You can't get a nice looking thing to turn your desk into a standing desk at TWICE this price, so again, I'm happy. Five stars!

Compact and affordable
I have a photography business and my studio is in my home. I was looking for a small desk that isn't wall mounted. This fit the bill, and I am definitely not complaining about the price. My husband took his time assembling it and I have had no issues. I like it very much, and it's perfect for the small space I'm working with.

Decent for the price.
First of all I just want to say that I was not pleased with the condition in which this product arrived. I found multiple scratches on many of the pieces and since they're black it's just that much more noticeable.
Aside from that, I'm satisfied with the price I payed for this small desk. I use it as an extension to my ikea desk because I needed more room to use my desktop and my laptop and the same time.
One thing I would note: don't expect to store much on the shelves of this product because they are held together by a two measly screws and the middle shelf is actually stand alone, it's only being held by the pole. 10-15 pounds would be the most weight I'd put on these shelves. The instructions were easy to understand, it took me about 25 minutes to build the entire thing by myself.
Overall, it's a decent product for the price but it's definitely not something you'd want to have in the nice area of your living room. It's fitted best for a room or garage if you care at all about the presentation of your home.

Good buy for the price
Directions were pretty easy to decipher. If you know how to use a screw driver, you shouldn't have much problem. I would how ever, have 2 screwdrivers of different lengths. Because of the angle and pressure needed, I alternated between a long handles driver, and a short stubby one. If you have access to one, I would recommend an electric screw driver. My hands hurt really bad after I got done doing all this manually! Only problem I really had was that the directions were not specific, in the beginning, about which way the top of the table should be facing when you attach everything. So I had almost the whole thing together before I realized that the top was backwards, so I had to detach the top swivel it around, then reattach, which was a BIG pain the @ss! So just make sure you have it all worked out before you get everything screwed down. All-in-all, a good little desk for the price. I must clarify that, though. It is an inexpensive desk. The wood is cheap, and was already slightly scratched when I got it. I also doubt it would hold up to anything heavy, or rough handling. However, if all you are going to do is put a computer tower on it, and a flat screen monitor, you should be fine. If you need to move it, especially from house to house, I would recommend planning on re-tightening all the screws after you are done. Still, for the price, it was a good buy.

Decent, but very shaky, desk
For the most part, the desk is decent enough. The price is great, and the free shipping with Prime made it even better. It's small, but more than big enough for what I want to use it for (I essentially just wanted something to put my laptop on). The material is cheap, of course, but it doesn't seem in danger of falling apart. However, some of the wood did crack during assembly, which is to be expected when you are working with cheap, manufactured wood.
My biggest problem with the desk is that it is wobbly. Very wobbly. I certainly know that you get what you pay for, but my last desk was a cheap desk from Walmart that cost less than $40, and I never had a single problem with it constantly moving like this desk does. The desk itself has little support at the bottom (the legs of the desk are rather small lengthwise and do not provide a lot of stability, which is surprising since they could have easily and cheaply made it much more stable by adding an extra couple of inches of length to each leg). The desk is so wobbly that it shakes and moves when I type or when I take my hands on and off the desk. As of now, I've secured it against the wall, which lessened its movement, but now it has a tendency to hit the wall if and when it does move.
All in all, the desk is not a bad deal, though I would hesitate to recommend it for someone who will use it for more than a year. If a wobbly, slightly unstable desk would not bother you or if you are just looking for a desk to use on a short-term basis, then this is a great deal. If you, like me, spend a lot of time on the computer and need a desk to use for more than a year, I would suggest paying more for a sturdier desk.

perfect for my desktop and the small space I needed ...
Very cute, perfect for my desktop and the small space I needed to squeeze it in (temporarily) I added two small plants and a folder holder to the shelves. I love it for just myself, but as a mom five I feel as if I made a bad purchase. Definitely not durable, super wobbly and just all around cheap materials. The bars between the shelves are nothing more than super hallow plastic tubes that would bend if you put too much weight on the shelves. I would recommend this for a one person (adult) home, or maybe a dorm room.

Used it for storage instead of a desk
I wanted a desk for school that wasn't too expensive, so I chose this one. I like the appearance of this desk and the color of the wood, but I don't think it's as functional as I hoped it would be. My boyfriend ended up putting it together, and it was pretty easy to do so. But the desk is not sturdy and wobbles easily. I tried doing homework on it but decided my bed was a better place. Instead, I used it to hold my books and other miscellaneous things. It can hold a lot of stuff which is nice, but it's not practical to be used as a desk. I would spend the extra money to have a better desk than going for this one. If you're looking to get this product, it is usable but it's not ideal.

Junk! Not worth $1.
I wish I could give 0 stars for this junk! The cheap partial board split! I will definitely not be able to use this!

If you haven't had a class in wood shop...don't get it!!!! Toooo much put together, toooo much having to screw with small screws, toooo much trying to figure which board belongs to a, b,c...

cheaper than a foyer table.
I bought this table to be used as a foyer table. it's cheaper than a "foyer table" and look different than most foyer table.

nice little desk
I got this desk thinking it would be complete junk, but it turned out to be a nice little desk. First note, the color is black. There is the smallest hint of "espresso" tone, but just consider it black to avoid confusion. One problem with the desk's small size is that there isn't enough space on the desk for a monitor and a keyboard. (Well, there is enough space, but not enough for it to be comfortable). I took care of this by mounting my monitor on the wall. The shelves are sturdy, not worried at all about them holding weight. The desk is a bit wobbly, but that is to be expected from something so small (and cheap $) This could be easily fixed, also, by adding an extra support across the back of the desk, but it's not bad enough for me to worry about it. Couldn't ask for a better space-saving desk for the price. Don't expect it to be a great workstation, it is what it is.... a very small desk that is just big enough to do it's job. If you're looking to save space, you won't find a better desk for the price outside of a yard sale.

but it turned out fine. It's not too unstable
It's a decent desk for the price. I received the parts intact. Putting it together was a bit of a challenge, but it turned out fine. It's not too unstable, but it is particle board, and isn't going to have half the heft of a real wooden desk. Don't go in expecting to use this desk for the rest of your life. This is something I would buy only for a student or for a child.

Decent cheap desk
I needed a small and inexpensive desk, because I'm only living in my current apartment for one year. This desk worked out well -- I was concerned about the poor reviews, and it's certainly not a high-quality desk, but it's sturdy enough, doesn't wobble, and I think will last me the year that I need it to. It is perhaps slightly less well-made than Ikea furniture, but holds up fine under a pile of books, my laptop, and desk supplies. If you want a desk that will last you years, this isn't a good choice, but if you want something inexpensive and useable, this desk works. I also had no trouble building it, and I had no experience building furniture prior to moving into this apartment (ideally you need two people to build it, but I was able to do it myself with only a bit of struggle). Overall, I'm very glad I bought this desk.

Good laptop computer desk
Very pleased with my desk for my laptop. Good for less than 20 lb weight in main area, only 10 lbs for side shelfs. Go step by step, use power drill. Had my son put it together and took a full 30 minutes, going slow. No room for mistakes.

While this desk is light and little too wobbly for a computer, This product makes for an awesome work desk for my 7 year old little girl! She is homeschooled, and all of her workbooks are neatly placed on the upper shelf, her phonics tile kit is on the bottom shelf and a nice pink lamp light on the top which holds pens, pencils, dry erase markers, glue sticks and a pair of scissors and a ruler. I have colored pencils and markers set up in old koolaid plastic container, her crayons are in a smaller plastic cup from a hot cereal from special k. they are lined up perfectly and she still has plenty of work space for all of her work! So if you don't want this for your desktop computer. I would highly recommend this product for a school/college work desk! We love it for what it turned out to be used for!

The desk arrived within 3 days of purchase (one of those days including Sunday). I normally have my husband put furniture together but he was out of town so the job was left to me. It went together extremely well and didn't take too long to do. I was going at it pretty slow and it only took around 20 minutes to put together. It went in my 9 year olds room and works perfectly for some of his books and homework area without taking up too much room. Exactly what we were looking for. It isn't heavy duty but I didn't expect it to be...if taken well care of I believe it will last for a few years (or at least until he "outgrows" it).

Looks nice but not sturdy
I really like the way the desk looks and that it has a decent amount of storage space, but it is not sturdy. I can feel it move a bit as I type, nothing annoyingly so, but if I'm placing my laptop or a heavy book on it, it moves more than I wish it would. Also, it is sized for a computer (as in the fact that it's a computer desk) and not much else. I have a 17 inch laptop and I was hoping to get some written work done with my laptop open on the desk also, but it's a bit cramped to have space for both laptop and paper.
I'm giving it four stars because the instability is the only factor that I feel the manufacturer is responsible for, all the other stuff is just info I feel like sharing. I'm not sure if it's because I have it placed on carpet, but the moving is not from the base but from where the laptop is and such.
It's lightweight though so that was a plus for getting it up my stairs and is a good size for a small or medium room, but as I mentioned, is unfortunately not large enough for my bulky laptop + work space.
