Great for Cartoonists/Comic Artists as well.
They say these things are for checking things off on a paper document, but I got these to see how they compare the similar Prismicolor Col-Erase colored pencils, and they work really well! I was hoping it would be similar to the light blue color for those pencils. It's a little darker than that pencil, but there are two reasons why that's nice. 1: It hold back a little more than the light blue prismicolor. Meaning it shows up better with some distance away from the paper. So you don't have to squint or bring your head closer to the paper as much as with the light blue prismicolor. 2: It has the same effect when scanning it. Anyone who does cartoon and comic inking knows that the ink lines need to scan in cleanly on either a strait black and white or line art setting on a scanner, and this pencil does it just as nicely as the prismicolor equivalent. No more erasing pencils on your drawings!
Now there is a minor quibble I have with these pencils but it's actually goes for most other erasable colored pencils, and that's sharpening. With an electric sharpener you won't have much of a problem, but for on the go manual sharpener, they tend to not have as easy of a time as regular graphite and many sharpeners will just break the tips off the lead. They also wear down sharpeners so it might be a good idea to stock up on the one you find that does the job, Also keeping an exacto knife and/or sand paper to sharpen it with would also be a good choice.
So yea, really good pencil and I recommend it.

Nice pencils! I'm a beginning artist and I use them for sketching and outlines for watercolor. They each came pre-sharpened and ready-to-use. They are the same size as the other standard black and yellow Ticonderoga pencils. I like to ink my drawings after I draw with the red pencils, then erase any visible red. However, I noticed that the red is still visible after using watercolors, so I ink my paintings to hide the red. I find it easier and more efficient to use a quality eraser, like Staedler or Pentel, to completely erase the red pencil as the eraser ends don't completely erase the red pencils.

Needed red and blue erasable pencils for engineering school. I’ve never been crazy about the brand, as I’m not crazy about their goofy compressed wood and prefer the cheaper ones honestly. With that being said, the red doesnt transfer to paper nearly as red as I would hope, and post erasing, leaves residual red streaks unless you want to erase through the paper down to the table. All in all, it is however, a red pencil, so it does an alright job of being a pencil that is red

A Favorite for Sure
Now that I've been using these for over a year now, I can say this for sure: where have these been all of my life? I haven't had smearing problems with them like normal pencils thanks to the harder lead and color. Then I love how non-photo blue just allows you to ink in a picture and just run it through a scanner without having to use up half an eraser and potentially ruin the quality of the paper. I bought the carmine ones too and liked them as well, but the non-photo blue I can see using far more. I will continue purchasing these.

Doesn't work well with my sharpener
The "lead" in these keep breaking off about 1/4" into the wood while sharpening. I gave it four stars because this may be my sharpener's fault.
Although the sharpener works perfectly wit regular #2 pencils, it does sometimes cause problems with colored pencils.
When you get these, try them with a sharpener for colored pencils because these are essentially red colored pencils with erasers. It doesn't really erase either but that is fine for my intended purpose.

Perfect Grading Pencils!
I use these to grade my student's artwork. I can find them here on AlumiGogo and at my local stores. I like using these to provide short feedback on the back of my student's work. I let them know early in the semester that it is erasable and shouldn't be a permanent part of their artwork...even if it is on the back. They should read the constructive feedback and then erase it; or leave it, if they want to know why they received that particular grade in future years.

Fine but costly
These pencils are fine. I need two of them for each packback I assemble for our group's start-of-school giveaways. I cannot find these erasable red pencils for less than 40-something a piece. That is frustrating for me. Why are there no cheaper alternatives? (Why does our school district require these single-source pencils?)?

although they do break easily, and when you sharpen it
i bought my husbnd a box, he uses these a lot, although they do break easily, and when you sharpen it, it just consumed most of the pencil, because it just keeps breaking, its frustrating, but this company Dixon Ticonderoga never responds with your concerns, so what can i do. i bought this box to hold him over until i find something better.

I bought these pencils for my graduate course entitled Technical Editing where we must learn how to use the marks of editors in editing and proofreading texts. The eraser is not as effective as I had hoped it would be, but in the grand scheme of things, being able to erase red marks is still quite convenient in my use of this product.
