XP600 are way better than the basic
These are PERFECT for my glue ups. While it only has a capability of 600 ft lb of force, it is just right for the pressure I am applying to the panels I glue up. They are sturdy and very easy to use. I've dropped a couple on the shop floor and the plastic casing didn't break. If you need heavy clamping force these are NOT for you. I suggest the Bessey K-Body clamps that offer 1,500 ft lb of force but are more expensive. These set very easy and allow me to operate them with one hand since I can just keep clamping to bring the jaws together on the work piece. Would have given it 5 stars, but its made in China, and some of the key components should have been made out of steel. I still like them though and have 10 in the shop.

They are indispensable in my DIY life. Easy to use and tough.
As the saying goes, he who dies with the most clamps wins, but IMO you need good quality and easy to use clamps. For the most part, I like to buy quality tools and buy them once. I have been using Irwin quick grip clamps of varying strength for many years now around the house, but needed some that were larger and had more power. These fit the bill nicely and were on special no less, so I could not beat them. I have used all sorts of clamps and for general usage around the house, i always pick these up. I have held all manner of things together or even used them as spreaders over the years and they have yet to let me down. I have used them to help install hardwood floors, gang 4x4 post together for cutting notches, doors in openings, the list can go on and on. They are indispensable in my DIY life.

Good but heave and bulky
Its a great clamp but i wish i had gotten the "old" vs. next generation model. The I-beam bar and trigger design results in greater clamping pressure and zero problems with jaw slippage (a problem i have seen on the old generation) after many hours of heavy duty use. As truly HEAVY duty bar clamps go this deserves 5 stars but i gave it only 4 because of the weight, bulk and a hard to pull release trigger. The new full length padded jaw is nice but tends to not remain truly parallel if clamping something narrow (say 4/4 stock) as you move away from the anvil head (closer to the I-beam bar). The 524QCN has half the clamping pressure but is lighter smoother and less bulky. If you do not need the extra 300lbs, stick with it and save a couple of bucks.

Nice addition to my Irwin clam collection!
I've been needing some larger clamps for a while. After looking at other options I chose to stick with Irwin and have not been disappointed. These allowed me to knock out two projects I've been holding off on for some time, because I needed something larger than 12-18". These things are beasts! Quite heavy duty and substantial feeling, and a nice supplement to my other Irwin clamps.

STRONG! No need to follow up with a metal clamp
Incredible clamping power. I bought these because I am a carpenter and am frequently clamping cabinet face-frames together when installing cabinets. I used to use a set of one-handed clamps that were lighter duty than this but always followed up with a heavier-duty two handed clamp. This eliminates the middle man. It's as strong a clamp as you can get and it's one handed. THEY ARE CLUNKY AND HEAVY so beware but they are incredible!

I purchased 2 of these for my hubby at Christmas. He LOVES them!! He said they are strong and sturdy unlike the ones I had gotten from another company a few years ago.Yes, they are a little heavy, but hubby said it is not an issue. To him the quality of this tool is terrific! We will be buying more in different sizes for my woodworker!!

Best price on internet, Great tool.
This clamp/spreader was the best price on the internet (plus the prime shipping!) Other stores selling this for 60.00 or more. I bought this to use to replace the slings on my outdoor sling chairs and needed a spreader to spread the bars to get things back in place. Worked beautifully. I'm sure my husband will get use out of it as a clamp. Great tool. Easy to use.

Pricy, but very good
Picked up two of these clamps on AlumiGogo, which offers the best price. The clamps arrived in a flimsy cardboard envelop, but thanks to the sturdy build quality, nothing was damaged.
I have used it so far to clamp several wide boards to form both edge joint and face joint to form a thick table top. The deep full face pads proved to be very ideal for jointing. The pressure is extremely strong and very uniform. The jaws reaches deep, and really helps if you face joint wide boards. The quick racheting handle is comfortable to grab, and closes quickly and conveniently. And best of all, unlike the earlier versions, this clamp has a very thick and heavy steel I-beam. For the boards I jointed, 4 ft wide, there is no noticeable bow in the beam when fully clamped. And when clamped for overnight, I didn't notice any relaxation in the jaws. I also picked up 8 of the 24" versions. Together they provide everything I need to do edge and face jointing. So no more fumbling with c-clamps and cushioning pads. Just line up the boards and squeeze the handle. The pressure is just as strong. It is pricy, but well worth the money.

Deep throat and great clamping / spreading power!
This is one of those products that does a great job all the way around. I've used the clamps on several projects where shallow clamps couldn't reach, and these had a lot of strength and didn't deform in the jaws or bars. Clamping is easy, as is turning the jaw around to use the clamp as a spreader, and the long bar length makes squaring up framing easy. The locks that keep the jaws straight seemed like a gimmick until I used them, at which point they exceeded my expectations and worked great. Highly recommended.
