Not sure why there's so much controversy abt the accuracy. Easy way to check is weigh an object of a known set weight. I regularly weigh ten 500ml water bottles in a plastic container and expect 5kg plus a bit more for the plastic (see uploaded photos). It always gives me 5.3kg. The machine is accurate and I'm loving it!

I am completely baffled – it’s like it just spontaneously shattered
I purchased this scale 4 months ago. Today I walked into my bathroom and found the whole thing had completely shattered into hundreds of pieces. There was glass all over the floor and all the way across the bathroom – the scale must have literally exploded glass around the room. No one was home at the time, so I have no idea how it happened, but I am certain that nothing fell on it or knocked into it, no one stood on it or bumped it, and it wasn’t exposed to water or any extreme temperatures. I weigh 135 lbs and had used the scale less than a dozen times. I am completely baffled – it’s like it just spontaneously shattered. I’m glad I wasn’t standing on it when it happened, or my feet would’ve been badly cut up.
I searched “shatter†in the AlumiGogo reviews and found that this has happened to at least 24 other people. Several of the reviewers said that EatSmart sent them a replacement, sometimes a different model. I am going to contact their customer service and see what they say – but at this point I’m a little afraid about stepping onto another one of their scales.
UPDATE: EatSmart was very responsive and sent me out a replacement scale right away. I've used it once -- so far, so good -- but I think I'll be weighing myself with socks on in the future, just in case it happens again...

I am IMPRESSED......
I changed my review from a 1 to a 5...here's why I am impressed. First, I had a Tanita scale; it told me my weight, body fat, water weight, bone weight, if my toe nails needed to be cut, etc. However, I could not read the display and as executive/non-athlete I did not need all this information. When that scale died, I went looking for a good solid simple scale. I liked the way this scale looked and the reviews on AlumiGogo were good. Plus, the price was great. I got it right away, and it was great. Looked good, easy to read, and I liked the 0.2 denominations. However, unfortunately it stopped working after two weeks. I went to return it on AlumiGogo and posted a disappointing review. Then the most amazing thing happened...this really happened...about an hour after I posted my review, I was contacted by the company. They read my review and apologized that my unit was not operating the way that it was supposed, discussed their high quality control and that this should not have happened, and then they sent me a replacement right away. THAT IS CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! They are family run operation that prides themselves on customer service and providing people with a quality product. THEY STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS! There are so few of these good companies left. I was very impressed. I am a very happy customer again and will buy other products from this company!! I hope you will to
UPDATE - It is April 2012 and the replacement scale they sent is still working perfectly. Also, I saw someone comment about how did they contact me; they emailed me through AlumiGogo. They did not have any personal information they were simply able to reply to my comment. Still a very happy customer.

Simple and clean looking scale!
This is a simple and clean looking scale. The price is right and it's very easy to read. I've had this exact scale for a long time! I purchased one for when I moved abroad for school years ago (more than 6 years ago), my parents have this scale in their own home, and I just recently bought a new one for my new place with my husband. It is accurate I would say, or at least if you're trying to lose or gain weight it is accurate in terms of not fluctuating. The only drawback is that it does not come with batteries, so you have to have batteries at hand or go to the market to grab some (which we had to do). Also, the scale I brought to school with me broke after 3-4 years due to rusting as I was living in a fairly warm environment (Philippines). I bought my new one and currently in Hawaii, so I will update the longevity in the similar warm weather as I was in school if we have or do not have problems in the upcoming years. Still a good product, considering I still bought it again!

Scale is easy to set up and calibration procedure is simple. Even comes with starter batteries. Compared with my existing scale which I have had for several year this Eatsmart Scale weighed me 1.6 pounds lighter. Since it is touted as a precision scale I will take it!! Design is very nice and the price is great!! Hopefully this scale will provide a long useful life.
My only complaint so far is that if your weight only fluctuates .2 - .4 pounds (about a half pound) it reads the previous weight. So to get an accurate reading you must first weigh yourself holding something weighing a few pounds to get a reading at least a half pound greater than your previous weight then re-weigh yourself to get a true weight.

Not too impressed on the 1st day. 1st reading had a 5 lb surplus. 2nd weigh in (within seconds) and there after was my correct weight. Then it came with a free tape measure and it starts at 1.5 inches! Scared me there for a second until I noticed that it was off. Will update later after some uses. Why is it so difficult to find a good digital scale...
Update 9/8/2017 - been pretty consistent so far so I'll add a star. Not sure on it's complete accuracy but at least it's close. Hoping it holds up over the other brand I bought which only lasted 1 month.

I liked the scale and it performed well for 7 months
I liked the scale and it performed well for 7 months. At the 7 month mark, we started getting wild readings and "CAL" display messages. I sent a message to EatSmart and got these instructions (below) to reset the unit. I tried resetting multiple times but it didn't solve the problem. I'm going to try another brand.
"Please follow the reset procedure below which normally alleviates any error or issues associated with our scales.
Remove the battery from the scale.
Set the scale on the floor (no carpet) without the battery in place.
Stand on the scale for 10 seconds (still without the battery).
Carefully replace the battery without pressing any buttons or activating the scale.
Set the scale on the floor (no carpet) with the battery in place.
Using only one foot, tap the scale or apply just enough pressure to turn on the display. IMMEDIATELY REMOVE YOUR FOOT. (It should show dashes or zeroes)
Let the scale turn off.
Step on the scale for a weight reading"

It didn't come with batteries so that an inconvenience however it seems to be accurate, will update my review in a month.
The scale has stopped working, it's inaccurate by 6+ pounds. I did what I was instructed and their customer service just kept going back and forth with me about how to fix it when I just wanted a replacement because I did what I was told and it was STILL inaccurate. Eventually, I just gave up. I wish I could return it, I couldn't even file a claim with the protection plan I purchased with the scale.

This is just as described. It works well and looks nice. Does not take up a lot of space. It doesn't call me names or make fun of me in anyway, very respectful. It does need to be on a hard floor and reset it after you move it so it can recalibrate. The big numbers are easy to read.

I highly recommend it. Until recently it has been very accurate ...
I have had this scale for 3 years now and it is time to replace. It takes a while to give a reading now and is coming apart. It has been used a lot in these 3 years and has been 1 instrument I have used to help me lose 62 pounds. I highly recommend it. Until recently it has been very accurate all the time. So, I say that I have definitely gotten my money's worth.
