Very roomy and covers me and my backpack well.
Very nice rain poncho. Quite roomy and well designed. I'm 5'10" and 230 lbs. With a very stocky build, this poncho has good coverage even when wearing my Maxpedition Falcon 2 which is also maxed out with bottle holders on each side, a 10 liter dry bag strapped to the bottom and a 5 liter dry bag strapped to the top also have Maxpedition M-4 pouches on each side on a modified waist belt, the poncho covers me and all that well. The sleeves are ample and have thumb holes to keep them from sliding up your arms. The hood has a drawstring with slide barrel locks on each side, the back of the hood has a hook and loop adjusting strap. The front of the poncho just below the face opening is zippered and gusseted I imagine to regulate breathability of the garment and to facilitate access to a breast pocket. There is also a large map or cargo pocket on the front of the poncho in the chest area that has a hook and loop flap closure and a pass thru tunnel behind it. The only thing left is a good test in a downpour, I will put it to the test this spring and update this review with my findings . I'm confident it will shed rain as well as most other ponchos of similar class.

Very glad to have this
Used it to travel around the Azores where it rains a lot! Very glad to have this. It covered my backpack as well. It's big, but that's the point. It packs nice and small. Still going strong after all this time.

Awesome rain gear
Awesome rain gear. I'm 6' tall and the only part of me to get wet in a driving rainstorm is my shins/feet. Everything else is protected from the rain. My $$$ Helly Hansen's have been replaced.

i dig it.
really great product. only, it looks slightly less cool than in the picture. the way its folded makes it look like there are pleats or something, but it looks more flat and plain unfolded. regardless, its pretty rad. very lightweight and durable material, and it is HUGE. im a yeti of a man, and still i can fit me and my 4000 ci pack, with tons of room to spare. it packs up nice and small too, so there is no reason not to have one in your pack.

Field tested in the Pacific Northwest
This thing's awesome. I wore it on a backpacking trip out to Ozette, Washington, which is one of the wettest areas in the entire Northwest. We got dumped on during the 3 mile hike out there, and it took well over an hour before the poncho soaked all the way through in some spots. And that was heavy, constant rain. Even after getting only slightly wet, the poncho keeps heat in wonderfully. My pack stayed dry, too. I'd order another one in a heartbeat. Great piece of gear.

Packs small, yet completely covers me and my large backpack
Finally got a chance to try this poncho a couple weekends ago on a day hike. It started raining, and I pulled this poncho out quick and slipped it on over myself and my pack. Plenty of room! I like that the sleeves on this poncho are longer and also elastic cuffed, whereas other ponchos only have the half sleeves which still allow your forearms to get wet. The length of this poncho is great for someone my size (6'1", 230lbs) even with a full pack on. I was covered from head to just above my knees, and the expanded backside hangs just a bit lower but not in my way where I would trip on it.
One recommendation though... before you take this poncho into the field, open it at home first and "prepare" it. The plastic material may not be fully "cured" yet, so it tends to stick to itself from the factory. Extra drying time before balling it up and putting it in its compression sack would probably cure that, but we as consumers can't control it. So, take this poncho out at home and go through it carefully to fully separate it apart where it has stuck together. It won't tear (don't be rough with it, of course) but still take your time. I guarantee you don't want to break this out in the field without doing this step first, or you'll spend 2 minutes trying to get it on right. Once it's prepped, it will slip on in seconds and not re-stick to itself.
Folds up and then rolls up to easily fit back in the included compression sack. Best piece of lightweight rain gear I own, and if there's even a chance of rain on a backpack trip, this comes with me.
Not recommended to leave in a car or hot environment during the summer. The material is relatively thin and I would expect that it would age after a couple years of heat exposure. Keep it in a climate controlled environment when not needed, and get years of use out of this poncho. A tad bit pricey for just a poncho, but the design is worth it to me.

Works as advertised
This item has a permanent spot in my backpack just waiting for rainy days, i've noticed some other reviewers complaining about the sleeve length but i haven't found that to be much of an issue, they're not as long as i like, but it's definitely more effective than a sleeveless poncho.
If you're looking for a product that'll keep you and your backpack dry then this is a must have.

This poncho is FANTASTIC. Works exceedingly well
This poncho is FANTASTIC. Works exceedingly well, and is quiet and completely waterproof. I have used it a lot, with and without a pack, and it fits great, has handy thumb loops, sheds water like a ducks...uh...back, and looks pretty good in the process. It packs down small, so it's easy to tote along, and is a great alternative to bulkier rain gear.

The best poncho I have ever owned
Have purchased different ponchos and weather gear to test in preparation for the 500 miles of The Way (Camino de Santiago de Compostela) in Spain. This is by far the best option. It provides ample room to cover the back pack. The pocket in the front (both the one open from side to side as well as the one with the Velcro) offers areas where you can put critical things and they stay completely dry. The most amazing thing is that you are protected yet don't feel like you are in a sauna like most other gear. Adequate protection with great ventilation... Have not tested in temperatures lower than 40F ...
