Great product, poor customer service - revised!
Loved this puzzle. Saw it with my family at FAO Schwartz in NYC. Came home and ordered it from AlumiGogo at a great price. I'm a former navigator working in international transportation and like my 8 year old son to have a global perspective with maps and things. We built this with my extended family after a holiday dinner and had a lot of fun, although it was a bit above my son... Quite a bit of good natured ribbing as I built my sections from the map side, using my knowledge of what cities and oceans were near each other. The rest of my family, read cheaters, built theirs from the opposite side where each piece was numbered.
On completion, we found that one piece was missing, later discovering that the dog also enjoyed the puzzle... The piece was too chewed up to be usable and I wrote the manufacture to try and get a replacement, knowing it might not be possible.
They wrote back saying that they would work on the issue, but never followed up, even after I reminded the several times. I just wrote again and will let you know what happens.
*** Update ***
Contacted customer service again. Was told that the rep handling my inquiry was no longer with the company, for reasons I mentioned. Less than a week later, I recieved my replacement piece which was a perfect fit. Upgraded to 5 stars!

When I initially opened up the box and saw how small the pieces were, I panicked, since I had bought this for my 7 year old who loves puzzles. But each piece is numbered, and you put this together in order. 4 hours later, my son put it together basically with minimal assistance. Great puzzle.

Also one of the larger complaints I read before buying it was that it is too easy because of the numbers on the back
Maybe I got lucky but the puzzle I received all the pieces and they snapped together quite well and I didn't have to even begin to think about using any form of adhesive. Also one of the larger complaints I read before buying it was that it is too easy because of the numbers on the back, I understand the instructions tell you to use the numbers but no one is making you use the numbers. I sorted out 1-20 and then sorted out the rest 21-99 100-199 200-299 300-399 400-540. So I didn't use the numbers to build it but I did use the numbers to narrow the search down during each phase of the build, so essentially you can use the numbers to make it as easy or as hard as you'd like. The completed globe looks nice but remember its a smaller globe made from puzzle pieces, so it is not going to be the best globe to learn countries and capitals, but it works in a pinch.

Great puzzlewith a cheap stand
I purchased this puzzle for my son's classroom space, we home school and he is 7 almost 8 years old. The pieces are all numbered so it's not too hard a build and my son and I had a fun time building it together. The globe comes with the stand pictured and a second more flat stand for the globe to sit in while you build. My only complaint is the metal stand shown is pretty cheap. Some of the plastic to put it together was cracking after putting it together and the metal is so light weight it tips very easily. We use the stand for building to keep in on and it works well. Once built it's pretty solid so kid can pick it up and study it. Overall this purchase was worth the money!

I loved this puzzle until I got to puzzle pieces 498 ...
I loved this puzzle until I got to puzzle pieces 498 and 499, which were missing. I did however get two 493 pieces. As fun as this puzzle is, I am not happy about not getting puzzle pieces

If you're looking for a challenge, look elsewhere.
This is the most BORING puzzle ever. There are maybe 10 - 12 uniquely shaped pieces, as such, it is nearly impossible to put it together correctly on the picture side. The pieces are numbered on the inside, so this just becomes a tedious exercise in counting. Also, the pieces are made of plastic and since this puzzle isn't cut like a normal jigsaw, a lot of the pieces didn't match on the picture side exactly - another reason why it was so hard to complete from that angle. The last piece was a bit tricky to get in. I used a chopstick to support the backside so I could "smooth" the surface as much as possible. This was my first 3D puzzle ever, and I will never buy another! You HAVE to start at the bottom and go up in a certain order. Yawn. Now once it is complete, it is pretty cool. The stand was a little wonky to put together, but once the globe is on it, it spins very nicely. I still like the puzzle globe, because I love puzzles and I wanted a globe. So this will look cool in my office, if nothing else.

Good 3-D Puzzle
This is a great puzzle. It can be a little challenging to put the pieces together, but overall it's fairly easy and fun. It helps knowing how the countries fit together but overall it's pretty easy. It helps to know a bit about geography. It's also a great way to learn.
The product description says that once finished, the ball is smooth. I suppose it's as smooth as it can be when it's made of 540 little pieces. It's not like it's a ball that you'd play with. It's good for display though, and fun to look over the countries of the world. We have several types of globes around the house, from a golf ball to a beach ball and this one is one of the prettiest. The display stand is "meh" but the globe is very nice.
The ball is around 12 inches assembled. It sits nicely on it's display stand. The colors are bold and it's well labeled. The pieces are a sturdy plastic. I've had it for over two years. I'm sure it will last many more.

Fun to put together and great to look at!
This is my first 3D globe puzzle and I love the novelty of it! My husband and I put it together using the numbers on the back of the pieces, but it was still satisfying to complete.
Contrary to what some reviewers wrote, absolutely no glue, taping, or bending is required. The slightly curved plastic pieces are sturdy and hold up very well. You really can roll it. It was easy to get the last piece in as well; I simply had to tap it in. If it doesn't fit in quite as smoothly as you'd like (like mine the first time), just knock a few pieces in, piece them together, then place it back on top (like a lid) and gently tap it in. We also made sure that each piece was tightly in place and kept smoothing along as we built the ball.
The only gripe I have is that some of the printing have alignment issues (not lined up perfectly where the pieces fit together), so the letters either overlap or can't be seen. Overall, this is a nice-looking, solid puzzle ball once finished and sitting/spinning on the stand that comes with it. Would be even better if it comes illuminated for the price or glows in the dark.

Good project that can be used afterwards
My 7-year-old has been wanting a globe. He loves history and maps. He also likes putting together puzzles, so I thought it would be good gift that he could make then use.
The pieces are all numbered, so you know exactly how to put it together. And the pieces are made of plastic, so they don't bend or partially rip. This makes it easier for a younger age than what they have it rated for (10 years old). It is only the last few pieces that are hard because you cannot reach them from behind. It is sturdy enough in this case, to just push them into place as long as you don't press too hard.
I wish it told what year it was up to date to.
It comes with either a plastic bowl to set it in as a display, or the wired display as shown. The wired display on ours was too wide for the globe, so it didn't stay in place. I re-engineered it a little to fit. Once it fits, the globe will rotate on the display.
Rated it only 4 stars for not knowing how up to date it was and for the wired display not fitting properly. Otherwise, good project that can be used afterwards.

A challenge, great fun, and educational to boot
This was a great project for me and my granddaughter and amazed both of us and our friends. Once assembled it looks beautiful and continues to amaze and educate. What more can you ask. Numbering the pieces was a great idea. Without the numbers it would be a great gift to entertain someone in solitary for life. But for us folks who want to have fun and feel the satisfaction of seeing the finished product, even with the help of the numbered pieces, this is plenty challenging enough. We completed it over the course of a few days of fun, but short periods of work. Good, high precision quality. Works just as advertised. Highly recommended.
